Day 7 of Brendon O'Connell's hunger strike.
[Brendon discusses his situation in an earlier call with Mark Glenn]
I rang Casuarina prison this morning to inquire on the status of Brendon as I have not heard from him since Monday the 12th. The Prison guard I talked to couldn't give me much information and said he would get upper management to ring me back but no one has so far.
I also sent an email to the Minister of Corrective Services, Honorable Terry Redman, requesting his input as ultimately Brendon is under his care. They have not responded yet, but let it be known that an opportunity has been provided to the minister to sort this out amicably and resolve this into a win-win situation. I will have no choice but to start escalating this issue into the public eye in the days ahead if I don't get satisfaction with this effort.
Collen Egan of West Australian Papers should have received her letter and package I sent off on Monday, person to person. (I wonder if she is up to the task, or will she shy away from this controversial issue, yielding to the fear of the beasts that be. I guess we shall soon see...)
As of the 7th of March Brendon has started a hunger strike in defiance and protest of the injustice and continued abuse that attempts to beat him into submission. He says that he will not eat until he is free.
