Apart from Mitt Romney's ridiculous slur against President Obama after the slaying of U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens, Americans should focus on the state of affairs suggested by the following questions: When was the last time a Chinese diplomat was killed or even roughed up by an angry mob? Nigeria, Africa's most populous nation and its largest oil producer, is from all evidence being systematically thrown into chaos and a state of civil war. The recent surprise decision by the government of Goodluck Jonathan to abruptly lift subsidies on imported gasoline and other fuel has a far more sinister background than mere corruption and the Washington-based International Monetary Fund (IMF) is playing a key role. China appears to be the likely loser along with Nigeria's population.

China is recasting large gold bars into smaller size bars in preparation for a world trade system in which dollars are worthless as legal tender outside the United States. While Homeland Security is busy buying 450 million hollow point rounds, China has been gradually selling US Treasury bonds and using the money to buy real assets in Africa, Asia, Latin America and elsewhere so there is no cut off of supplies to their industries and their people when trade collapses along with the dollar and the euro.

It seems to me that the Russian and Chinese refusal to veto the Security Council’s resolution concerning Libya was no accident. Rather I want to suggest that Russia and China decided, coldly and deliberately, to sacrifice Libya. As a consequence there was no obstacle delaying or preventing Russian recognition of the post Gadhafi government. If I am correct, then that deliberate sacrifice provides startling new evidence, like nothing else ever before, of their long-term strategic planning of allowing NATO to be sucked even deeper into what will eventually become a Middle East quagmire (i.e., a military grave-yard or cemetery) from which there will be no escape for NATO. Perhaps the Russian strategy is to wait until NATO is in the most vulnerable military position before it launches its attack.
