Iran declares WAR on History
"It is a strange world. It is possible to discuss everything except the Holocaust," Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi told reporters. "The Foreign Ministry plans to hold a conference on the scientific aspect of the issue to discuss and review its repercussions."
Iran, whose president has denied the Holocaust, said Sunday it would hold a conference to examine the scientific evidence concerning Nazi Germany's extermination of 6 million Jews.
Asefi did not say where or when the conference would be held or who would attend.
On Saturday, Ahmadinejad urged the West to be open-minded enough to allow a free international debate on the real aspects of the Holocaust.
Rep. Tom Lantos, D-Calif., has said he understood Iran was considering a conference to call into question the evidence that the Nazis conducted a mass murder of European Jews during World War Two.
Oh man, Iran is really pushing the envelope.
How dare they question HISTORY as it's been passed down to us from the all knowing, all seeing media?

The Holocaust has certainly been exaggerated and its victim count inflated as part of the PR process to justify Israel. That said putting 6 million people in concentration camps is still a horrible reprehensible act that can never happen again. Well, if there's going to be a conference about it, it will setttle the things once and for all ? The idea of having a discussion and debate about the issue is heartwarming. Many people today aren't connected with the events of that time and have no sense of history, being numbed by the consuming and flashy media... if that reconnection happens the outcome might be a more peaceful world. those who want war are the ones who have never experienced one.

I have no sympathy for Israel and their criminal behavior toward Palestinians and other Arab peoples of the region. I'm also not naive to think that Iran's motives are pure and open-minded. Even Aljazeera sees President Ahmadinejad as a radical creep, puppet to the Ayatollah Khamenei. I don't trust his words any more that I trust George Bush or Ariel Sharon.

Morpheus, would you care to give us a source for this figure of three million jews gassed? There is no mention of gassing anyone in the writings of DeGaulle, Churchill, Eisenhower, or in the post WWII report of the International Red Cross (issued 1948, I think).
To the best of my knowledge, the only source for these sort of statements is the testimony from Nuremberg, where all of the judges and inquisitors were jews, and where most if not all of the "confessions" were gotten by torture. Given your criteria, what source could I possibly cite that you wouldn't deride? None that I can think of.
I take people on an individual basis, not based on their ethnicity or affiliation with any group. I don't assume people to be liars until they prove themselves to be so. Consequently, I don't assume that because someone is Jewish that they are an apologist for some zionist imperial ideology. If I did, then I would be a hypocrite to criticize my country and my heritage.
My sources were primarily professors, textbooks, and academic journals. Online I referred to Wikipedia and Gordon McFee's Holocaust History Project. I don't know whether all Jews are Zionists or not. About half the Jews I've known in my life seem like ordinary people. I have a Ph.D. in History and have taught the Holocaust on several occasions. Only recently have I had time to investigate the claims of the so-called Holocaust 'deniers.' I was shocked to discover that the Holocaust revisionists have won the argument. There was no Nazi campaign to systematically exterminate the Jewish people.
How did this happen? The problem is that most historians don't look into the primary sources. To me regret, taught the subject wholly on the basis of secondary works. The reason is that there are very few documents pertaining to the 'Holocaust' that would qualify as 'primary sources' - and those that are available are never examined for their authenticity. That's simply taken for granted.
In short, the norms of historiography do not apply to the Holocaust. And historians are probably terrified of the potential consequences to their careers of examining the sources pertaining to the Holocaust with the same degree of scrutiny they would apply to documents pertaining to other events.
So Iran is definitely doing the right thing on this matter.

Some of the raging, prejudicial posts here have just taught me something important. Though I never before understood why the Jews obsess over the Holocaust, I do now. It's because it's the only one so many people want to do over.
Nobody seriously talks about exterminating Native Americans or enslaving African Americans. Those holocausts are over with. It is historically correct that until 1948 there was yet no Jewish state (when Israel was founded). That is without question! And the massive [number of] dead (6 millions) in the German concentration camps are probably proven, but whether all were of the Jewish faith must be questioned. 6 million Jews? A very precise figure. It is a stretch of the imagination to believe exactly 6 million were killed. Logic and common sense dicatates it was not 6 million - maybe more, maybe less, but not exactly six million.
I conclude the Iranian president is speaking common sense and logic when he denies "The" holocaust and the figure of 6 million.

The great secret of the "Holocaust" is that Hitler was funded and made possible by Zionists. The only way to create a Jewish state was to destroy the Jewish communities of Europe and that is what Hitler did. Jews were uprooted and transferred to camps. At the end of the war they are funnelled down into Palestine. The "guilt money" from Germany paid for the new state's infrastructure and continues to keep it alive financially even today. There were no six million Jews killed. There were no "gas chambers". Iran is right and Jews should understand that Zionism is not their protector - it is their murderer.
Just to understand the victims of typhus in the concentration camps: There were no typhus epidemies until the very end of the war when the allies have destroyed all the infrastructure around. We know that typhus is a concern in every human agglomeration, even in New Orleans 2005 - only with the difference, that the authority in New Orleans still had the means to prevent it, nobody was bombing them.
Are you saying that it's okay to question whether the Holocaust existed? I think it's not okay for a world leader to proclaim the Holocaust never existed. I see that as an act of aggression against Jews. That said - it's not enough of an act of aggression to warrant going to war against Iran. (despite what many war hawks would say)

The blogger is flat out WRONG when he says there is ANY evidence that the Holocaust didn't happen. There was in fact a plan in Germany to wipe jews off the face of the planet. That is a FACT. Also a fact is that 6 million other people were killed by the Germans during WWII. I am not brush
