How to Brainwash a Nation

How did we get here?

How did we get to a place where a president can blatantly lie us into a war - and get away with it?

How did we get to a place where crooks can wrap themselves in the flag and rob the country blind - and no one challenges them?

How did we get to a place where a country once known for innovation and generosity can degenerate into a front of corruption and mindless viciousness - and life goes on as if normal?

We've been "worked on" for decades...

There has always been propaganda and persuasion, but nowhere has the art of skillful lying been developed to the art form it's become under the corporation-controlled United States.
“What my father understood about groups is that they are manipulable and malleable. And that you can tap into their deepest desires or their deepest fears and use that to your own purposes.”

--Daughter of Edward Bernays, Sigmund Freud’s nephew and the architect of modern day PR.
Joseph Goebbels was his biggest fan.

In this seven-minute excerpt from "The Century of the Self" a four hour film series by Adam Curtis, you'll get a quick lesson about how sophisticated the mass brainwashing of the American people has been and how long it's been going on.
And it goes on because we let it go on.

Now, more than ever it's time to wake up America! We've been brainwashed! Throw your tv in the trash. Turn away from the billboards. Ignore the ads. You have a choice. Exercise it.

Don't work for a scumbag so you can buy things you don't need, or live in a house you never see, or let your children be raised by snake oil salesmen.

This is the most important struggle on earth - the struggle between truth and lies. Your mind is the prize. Whatever you do, don't let someone else control it.

i have to totally agree, from the outside it seems to me the america is concern about keeping people in fear, and mass consumption. the america test score for child is so low one could laugh, but actually its quite sad, to me it appear the media ther, has a role to dumb down the people, keep them addicted to pop culture, and more concern about how much plastic the women can put into ther bodies. people who follow this consumerism and pop culture to this degree only need ther news in a 10 sec sound bite or a big headline with a 3 sentence story. all of this i feel makes it easy to sell the sheeple the racsist wars, even ther elections are basically only elephant and jackass, one does not have much choice. this marketing of mass consuption and , ideal of live in plastic nation, obsessed by pop culture and movie star is claim to be the democracy, i for one do not want or need this immoral style of gov't.

Truthguys.org, you are are 1000% for president Bush? Do you not realize how corrupt, lying, and awful of a president he is? Let me guess, you think Clinton was a bad president and that he's involved in lots of corrupt stuff, so that validates president Bush.

Your page looks like deception. Your latest article about getting "Ben Laden" just shows that you are either still dialed into the mainstream media that is being generated to control you or you are just lying. Worse, you are still dialed into mainstream media from years ago that almost NO ONE believes anymore.

I feel that anyone who thinks president Bush is a valid president is either mentally ill, extremely ignorant, or corrupt.

Huh. I was scrolling backwards ( yeh. I'm a little slow at times ) and found we had blogged on the same premise.
There should be little confusion for one who remembers Carl Rove's stock-in-trade and has heard of the PAC.

what's up with this whole: "Clinton was bad!" response to criticism of Bush.

Ok. Whatever. Clinton was bad.

Now what in the world does that have to do with Bush?
