British Consul Strip-Searched in Jerusalem
The world's most notorious serial strip-searchers strike again . . .
That'll teach her not to step foot in the "promised land" again.
Israel's foreign ministry has apologised after the British deputy ambassador to Tel Aviv was forced to strip for a security search at the Israeli prime minister's office.Janet Rogan, who is Britain's consul general in Tel Aviv, was with a delegation of British Treasury officials, led by Ed Balls, the economic secretary to the Treasury, earlier this month. They arrived at the Jerusalem office of the prime minister, Ehud Olmert, ahead of a meeting with his chief of staff and his political adviser. The names of the visitors had been given in advance, the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper said yesterday.
So, they knew DAMN WELL who was coming!
But security guards ordered Ms Rogan to undergo a physical search, the paper said. She refused and presented her diplomatic identity card. However, she was then made to step behind a partition and to undergo a physical search, which included removing her blouse. The Yedioth described the search as a "prolonged, needless and humiliating process" and said the diplomat was visibly upset.
I'm surprised she agreed - I would have left and told Olmert to shove it - in the most diplomatic way possible, of course.
Later, after Ms Rogan made a written complaint, the prime minister's office investigated the incident and an Israeli foreign ministry official met her to apologise. Ms Rogan has worked at the embassy in Tel Aviv for a year and a half after previous postings in Iraq, Sarajevo and Beijing.
Security is tight at Israeli government offices and at Ben Gurion international airport in Tel Aviv, where checks involve sophisticated metal and explosives detectors and questioning. Diplomats are usually spared detailed physical checks.
A spokesman for the Israeli prime minister's office told the Yedioth: "Given reservations about the manner in which treatment was extended in this case, an investigative team was appointed. In light of the team's findings, the procedures were updated and lessons were learned, and an apology was issued for any emotional pain that was caused by the affair."
In other words, they're "sorry" they got caught and the whole world knows about it.
Zehavit Ben-Hillel, a spokeswoman for the Israeli foreign ministry, last night told the Guardian: "The issue was checked and we are in touch with the British embassy to the satisfaction of both sides."
You wish - she will never forget it, and neither will we.
A British embassy spokeswoman last night confirmed that the incident took place. "She was subjected to an intrusive security check and the British embassy took up the issue with the prime minister's office who have since apologised and told us they have instituted procedures to ensure it doesn't happen again," the spokeswoman said.
Too little, too late.
The damage is done.
Another public relations death blow for "that shitty little country" called israel.

In a level playing field, Netanyahu should be strip-searched on entering a country and made to prove he isn't carrying thermite or plastic explosives in his diplomatic briefcases. As we see, the playing field is far from level, and this pathological little State about the size of New Jersey commands a power that is wholly disproportionate to its size and population. And it has been caught in more crimes than most people have had hot dinners.
Currently there is a lot of discussion on the BBC website on the British government's stand in connection with the arrest of 15 military personnel by Iranian authorities.
Many commentators claim that the British government is spineless. What they mean is that the British government should follow up on the aggressors' decoy scheme by way of military aggression on Iran. I am afraid that the problem goes a lot deeper than that.
When a diplomat is confronted with this kind of offensive behaviour it is not about her personal sense of dignity, because she did not enter the Israeli Prime Minister's office in a personal capacity. She went there to represent her country.
Consequently, accepting this humiliation was not a personal choice but a matter if the dignity and sovereignty of her country. This is indeed far worse than to have been caught by armed Iranian troops in foreign or disputed waters.
Unless Britain wants to demonstrate to the world that it is an Israeli puppet just like the US she should be immediately relieved from her diplomatic duties, because she has caused humiliation of the country she is paid to represent.
Olmert should not be admitted to enter the country or to have any meeting of consequence without being stripped naked. If he has problems with that it is too bad for him.
It appears to me that his meetings are rather about giving dictates than to have dialogues, so the need for them cannot be considered urgent from a British point of view.
I guess that there is still room for a British point of view, or maybe I am wrong?
No doubt about it. Israel and Zionists rule the roost, the sovereignty of nation states died after WWII when finance became de-linked from government. Now it is Finance and those who have money power who dictate policy to governments.
The British Labour party has an inner group called "The Friends of Israel" and the Conservatives also have a similar named group.
David Cameron the Leader of the Conservatives is financed by Zionists, like Blair.

The above link says "Downing Street has attacked Labour MP Tam Dalyell after he complained of a "cabal of Jewish advisers" unduly influencing Tony Blair."
However the truth is there for all to investigate and discover. Lord Levi (A Zionist) and the cash for Peerage comes to mind also.
Rupert Murdock also supported Blair with his Media empire, without him Blair would never have become PM. Murdock is a Zionist and many say a Jew.
