Steadfast Trees

O suppliers of anointing oil!
That sprouted forth from Holy soil.
Giving life between white and dead seas,
You have been steadfast over the centuries.

O most ancient yet verdant trees!
Occupying the world’s antiquities.
You’ve watched civilizations come and go
Some with relief, others great sorrow.

O bearers of the land’s blessed fruit!
Beware the conspiracy that’s to uproot
You from your ancestral home,
From under the shade of the golden dome.

O evergreen olives of Palestine!
With its history your branches intertwine.
To your right to the fulfilling soil you must hold firm,
Or a day shall beset us where we shall mourn
Your replacement with the awful thorn.

Q ! Since you love trees, I thought you would like
another little picture I found, which reminded me
of a certain old legend you once told me about.

( I even had it framed, especially for you ! )

Although I know you are not nationalistic, that flag
is not what I refer to. I hope someday Q, that you
will do for us a post about that particular verse from
the blessed Qur'an, which tells of the olive trees.

And bless you, MZ, for making my day,
with your fine and noble poetry.

nice frame too!

I'll try to get the info on that verse I told you about.

Or, maybe MZ, leftfield, or sphinx can help out???
