My peculiar Yahoo answer to Question "what video game character do you want to be & why?"

Illustration from The Art of Metal Gear Solid

I acknowledge this post may constitute irrelevance because it relates to what is generally perceived as a "waste of time and brainpower" hobby according to the mature adults' perception. I agree with this contention to some extent.
But my answer posted on Yahoo Answer to a particular video game designer's question may be interesting because I "dissertate" political humanitarianism from my unique point of view compared to the endless roll of feeble & often worthless answers.
Weird, to be sure, but I like being the stand-out for my "eloquent" commentary that differentiate from the amusing mindlessness of the youthful respondents.

Movie-like trailer with the running commentary on the nature of modern war.

First you take D.C. Then you take New York.
I've played and completed Metal Gear Solid for the PS1 and both of the PS2 games.
One of my all time favourite video games, with a plot more intricate and insightful than most movies and other forms of popular art. I'm sure readers of this blog would appreciate the themes the Metal Gear games touch on, such as power politics, terrorism, behind-curtain politicking, etc.
Monkey, I consider the third game in the Metal Gear Solid series the very best that raised the bar in terms of video game entertainment and emotional resonance.
The ending brought a tear to my eyes unlike any video game I've ever played. Hideo Kojima is a genius but Konami engineering and design team made it possible in bringing to realization Kojima's vision.
I loved Metal Gear Solid 1 - it was a memorable game when I played it as a college kid and my jaw dropped on the floor when the pile of twists is revealed towards the ending.
Did you know the Wachowski brothers (The Matrix trilogy) are big fans of Mr. Kojima? They paid a visit to Konami company to meet him and his staff.
If anyone is curious and wants to know the in-depth biography of Snake/Solid Snake/Big Boss (essentially identical generations if I'm correct), here is a helpful biography entry.
Also click on the Metal Gear titles within the fictional biography page but spoilers therein if one haven't bothered to play, understandably due to time constraint and family, etc.
Monkey, I liked Metal Gear Solid 2 and was taken aback by the introduction of the new character. Unlike "fanboys," I didn't hate him and thought he's a neat character despite the amusing monologues related to his amateur espionage status.
One thing I didn't like about the first sequel of the MGS series is its apparent convoluted plot twists towards the ending. The thick depth of the weird story arc related to virtual reality left me tired trying to make sense of it. I think Kojima rushed the story because he was running out of time in the locked office writing the story in the summer of 2000 according to (very) rare DVD The Documents of MGS2. I own this physical DVD copy which you may be able to download as a torrent where available.
Did you know that according to The Documents of MGS2, there was a huge chunk of story about the main bad guy (not that gunslinger) piloting the gigantic tank called Arsenal Gear (remember it was situated at Federal Hall site) to crash into New York City?
There's a screenplay portion of that scenario along with the CG model demo of Arsenal Gear in the middle of NYC.
After 9/11 that part (the whole cut scene that I imagine would be amazing to watch) was completely purged out of respect for 9/11 victims before the official North America release in November 2001.
I think it's appropriate they excised the scenario since it would bring continuous trauma to New Yorkers and North Americans who witnessed the horror occur right in their almost disbelieving eyes.
I recently finished the PSP game Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops. It's a good game with neat innovative features like capturing enemy soldiers to place as spy/med/sneak/etc units but the cheesiness of the story towards the ending brought it down a notch slightly. The game is the sole reason I bought PSP and now that I've beaten it after 5 months of infrequent playing (because I was too busy), I sell it on eBay (I don't care for handheld systems at all). I liked the awesome in-game art by Ashley Wood in well-produced animated comic book cut scenes.
