(Yet another) Yahoo Answer to Question on curbing Global warming

I despise House speaker Nancy Pelosi with every fibre of my being, but upon reading her question, I couldn't help but provide an answer.

I separate politics from environmental concern as long as there is no degree of radicalism in environmentalism.

Radical environmentalists give moderate environmentalists (like me) a bad name - not to mention often hypocritical like Leonardo DiCaprio and Al Gore.

Here's my long answer to Nancy's simple question "Congress is working on legislation to address global warming - what would you like to see included?".

Here's a simple solution.

Mandate reasonable MPG fuel efficiency on the auto manufacturers. We have enough large trucks that run a few miles per gallon.

Pass the legislation on alternative fuel that's cost effective and should be encouraged.

Develop the plan to curb our addiction of oil (at least for frequent driving as the way of American life and maybe construction machinery) over a decade or more and shift to alternative fuel and solar power.

Establish relationships with the manufacturers of solar power panel and pass legislature overruling local dictatorial zone ordinances that attempt to prevent private homeowners' installation of solar energy panels on the rooftops.

Encourage the large companies and institutions to install solar panels on the top of the rooftops where people could barely see. It helps reduce massive wattage of fossil fuel or nuclear energy. Exception made for significant historical buildings like the many in Washington and New York City.

Provide tax credit incentive for users of alternative/clean fuel vehicle owners. Follow Arnold Schwarzenegger's example by establishing the highway lane reserved for registered alternative fuel vehicle drivers on some major interstate highways as a subtle advertisement for petroleum and diesel vehicle drivers.

Work with foreign countries in positive relations on oil supply at reasonable per-barrel price and set the example for foreign nations to reduce their air pollution. Do not covet foreign lands' oil unless legitimately bought and invested upon mutual agreement.

U.S. must work towards the goal of reducing oil addiction to sustain economy and personal lifestyle through feasibility of cost-effective and proven-effective alternative fuel.

Oil industry that depend on petroleum to fund their greed will end up losing the stranglehold on the market share if they resist the change. The greedily stubborn executives will be held responsible for preventing gradual change and weaning off oil addiction to continue polluting the world and thereby increase suffering for everyone and life because the few are blinded by avarice and ignorant attitude when presented with verified scientific facts.

Thank you for listening.

After all, it’s allowing some private individuals to make a profit.

For example, global warming has put Brisbane, Australia into the worst drought in the city’s history. People have been asked to conserve water.

Therefore a pimp / strip club owner established a bikini car wash, where a girl in a bikini will clean your pipes for 45 dollars.

Wherever there is suffering, sleaze is sure to follow.

There's an extensive rail system under construction in the county where I live.

I will be sure to use this system when it opens next year.

This way I will use less gas for personal transportation unless moving or visiting relatives far away. Also help poor college students save personal transportation expense for budgeting.

I'm not for ranting about the danger of global warming. We could do more to research the problems of climate warming (even solar activity) and offer feasible solutions instead of endless discussion and no action.

Some decent points, but know that CO2 only makes an inevitable problem a little worse, even many 'alternative' fuels emit CO2 or are environmentally disastrous. The real culprit is the SOLAR ACTIVITY that will broil us well, no matter what we do or how clean our energy sources. This is the secret, to continue on our toxic polluting path whilst ripping us off for their greed, time and time again, until the end.

Climate control treaty seems to me to become the next version of current global banking system. By signing into it, the corrupt leaders will enslave their nations to "buy air" above their heads at the price of gold from the same group of people who are "selling paper" now at the price of gold. By rationing and allocating the amount of air each country can buy (to spoil) each year, this group will be able to gage and control the advancement of technology and industry of nations. That might be one of the reasons they are so pathetically flunking NPT regulations so that fewer nations can diversify their energy consumption options and thus able not to play this game.

Normally a genuine scientific concern (like HIV epidemic) is spearheaded by scientist and NGOs first for years and decades before politicians grudgingly get involved and decide to do some thing about it. In global warming swindle, it has been the other way around. Scientists are being dragged out to support it and only as a backup and justification not leading the way. This should be a red flag by itself.
