Iraq: Worse than you can Imagine

Iraq: it's worse than you can possibly imagine, and worse than we can possibly know.

That was the message when the brilliant Middle East reporter, Patrick Cockburn, spoke on stage today at Hay, publicising his book about the British and American occupation of Iraq.

Iraq, he said, is a country that's been "hollowed out". Two million people have left. At least 3,000 civilians are murdered every month. The rest live in terror.

He told of details that give a real sense of what's going on. Because there are no more open-air markets, since so many have been bombed, people have set up stalls in side streets or their back gardens instead. Before the war, there were 32,000 doctors in Iraq; now 2,000 are dead, 12,000 have left, and the remainder, who are seen as having money and are thus targets for kidnappers, must work from armed-guarded clinics.

He reminded us about the Green Zone, the giant fortified area in the centre of Baghdad - while most of the city doesn't get electricity or water or sewage disposal, the Green Zone gets plenty, so the occupiers who live there have no idea what it feels like to live anywhere else.

He discussed "one of the great thefts in history", the "enormous kleptocracy", that started with Paul Bremer's Coalition Provisional Authority, which, infamously, didn't keep accounts. (They believed that all money spent would miraculously "trickle down".)

Cockburn is one of the brave few British journalists who still report from Iraq. He described just how difficult it is to do so: he can't go anywhere for more than 20 minutes; he can't make an appointment; he can't mention to anyone where he might be going, he meticulously avoids traffic jams. And those measures are just to "increase the odds in your favour", he said.

There may have been a plethora of books on Iraq, but most see the country as only a "backdrop" for what is "real and significant" - ie, Washington politics. But Cockburn, thank goodness, is different; he tries to see the occupation the way Iraqis see it.

He talked of cities that reporters rarely get to, such as Mosul and Kirkuk, where we don't know just how bad the violence is; he stressed that even the conservative official figures record that at least 3,000 civilians are murdered every month. It is a "society pulsating with fear the whole time".

Someone in the audience wondered if really the situation isn't so bad, that this is just the "Iraqi way of going about things" and it would all even itself out.

"That's baloney," said Cockburn. "This is the worst thing to happen to Iraqis since 1258, when the Mongols invaded and took Baghdad."

Now, I wonder, WHAT GROUP OF PEOPLE could possibly want to do such a thing to Iraq?

in the name of ALLAH the Maker

Have you ever considered the reasons of why this should happen to a country with a so long history of civilization?
Oil? Did Saddam(The wrath of Allah upon him) stopped the Oil flow to western countries? Yes,He considered changing from dollar to Euro, but it is really that bad for banks? Did he established an industrial country, capable of rivaling with that of west? Most of the oil money he took was resend to european accounts either in exchange of arms or goods. Consider the pseudoMullahs of Iran. Are they really kind of a threat to west?Besides, harsh rhetorics, what could they do to harm western civilizations, with their oil-dependent economy?
Please ,stop telling that all this carnage is for oil. US was and is taking its Oil shares even from Hugo for decades. There is no difference between Hugo, Saddam, Khamenei, Kings of Saudia in terms of selling out their Gas and Oil resources in exchange of cheap money.
Jews print the money, they virtualy have all the money in this world. Their actions are not explained by some money grabbing theories.
They want revenge. They want to annihilate all rival religions. They want to kill Shia Religion. So There should be no one opposing to sodomy, usury, adultery and disobeying God the Maker and Sustainer.
Only God the Lord can enfree us from Jews.

To Allah_is_the_Great,

I see it primarily as you do. I believe the Zionist regime started WWI to establish Israel the Fascist Nation. They started WWII too, to justify their future empire's agenda and goals
(thus if anyone opposes Israel today they can be called a Neo-Nazi and a anti-semite).

The Ottoman empire was an obstacle in their way prior to WWI. It was dissmantled to say the least.

Now, you see, Iraq, Iran, Syria and even Saudi Arabia stand in Israel's path to becoming the next Middle East Empire.

They are in line. IT's not so much for oil as it is for power and world dominance. Oil is a secondary or auxillary modivation for these vipers and snakes. The primary purpose is to murder any true Semites. These Ashkenazi are not Jews, but do Lie (or are decieved by their ancestors and schools into believing they are actually of Judah).

Many who call themselves Israel are not Israel. As it is written...the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light. Therefore they have the power of forces. They (Viper-Zionist-Judahic usurpers) crush the adamic-sethian-shemitic generation all day long.

1 Thessalonians 5:5
Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

Luke 11:51
From the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zacharias which perished between the altar and the temple: verily I say unto you, It shall be required of this *(viper-cain-kenite-Judahic usurpers-synagogue of Satanites)*, generation.

Another thing. America is morally and psychologically defunk, bankrupt, destroyed and irretrievably gone.

America (United States Government), is now a complete automated by the Zionist/Judahic/AIPAC/So-called Jews.

Unless God intervenes, there is little hope for humanity, soon the vipers will have everyone of us under mental, moral and physical subjegation.

In response to your question, Peacetroll, regarding what generation Jesus was referring to in Luke 11:51, my answer would be simply the created gene-eration that is humankind.
Similar to the quote "this generation shall not pass away........"
If we are to believe in the universal divinity of Christ manifested in Jesus then I think the gravity of what this implies suggests that we are dealing with references to humankind as a generation and not within the context of what we may only think a generation is, i.e. a cross section of people within a specific time frame such as the much quoted "generation X".
Either that or it is a reference to a specific genetic strain of people within the human race.
I tend to favor the former interpretation over the latter simply because the latter smacks of an ideology much pursued by those who are vehemently opposed to the idea that we are indeed created. Those who do acknowledge that they are created within this group tend to do so on the understanding that they were created as gods and as such have complete freedom to dictate their genocidal policies on the rest of us, such as Zionists, Nazis and fascists.

The way to defeat the Zionist is to use their own methods against them. They control American by cunning and manipulation. They terrorize the Middle East by assassinations and false flag operations.

Here's a line from the Bible:
"Resist Satan and he will flee from you" - they are NOT as smart or invincible as many people think. The evil that's going on in Palestine and Iraq can be stoppped, but the fight needs to be taken to America.

America is to the Jews like a cow a man owns, to live of its milk. If you cut the man off from the cow, he will starve without the milk. If powerful lobby groups were formed in America to resist the Jewish Supremacists' influence, if the Zionists could be cut off from American support, then Zionist power would melt away.

The crimes against humanity in Iraq and Palestine should not go unpunished. Let us never forget the suffering and death caused by the Jewish Supremacists and their stupid goyim supporters like George Bush - someday there will be a reckoning.

Is it that the High Explosive stuff like the one in the Photo. The ones with blody water seem to be favored and make the lead story always when it is seen by us here using the net for news?
Where is the info on the babies that are maimed and deformed from the UO2 and U-238 America is throwing all around the Mid-east region? This is killing FAR more than the MSM is telling you about the conventional Blast and RPG/Smallarms deaths. What of the mass starvations Americas war on terror is causing? What of the deaths caused by MSM interferences in the whole mess?

Since 1990 i estimate 3 million dead from various means. All this for American/israeli control of mid-east oil reserves for the coming energy problems. Oil the Americans Don't own even with the Help of the israeli and there Mossad diaper eater service.

Theft is Theft WHEREVER it goes down ON whatever SCALE. Theft can and will be dealt with.

It's about making sure that NO ONE ELSE DOES and about DESTROYING the last remnants of any neighboring civilization that MIGHT pose a threat (either military or economic) to the so-called "Jewish" state in the future.

I noticed that over 1800 people looked at this post about Iraq which comparing to other posts a huge amount. I am wondering what the reason is? Why would this post attract more attention than other posts which from where I live seem more interesting? Is it that I have gotten used to seeing what is happening in Iraq every day and every hour and have stopped sending out information and pictures assuming that the world has now finally caught on and is seeing what I'm seeing? Or is it that the world isn't seeing what I'm seeing and still wants information on Iraq? I am truly puzzled... because why would the interested parties (ie unconventional media) not be able to see what I see? It is available to everybody on satellite television... Are pictures and footage of Iraq no longer available on the internet? Should we in the Middle East send out again pictures of what we see on TV? It might seem that the mounting tension in Lebanon, Iran and Palestine have taken away from the attention given to Iraq... and that wouldn't be right...

The U.S. government is definitely censoring the pictures and details of the atrocities in Iraq. One has to extensively search the internet in order to get the truth. Most U.S. citizens are completely numb and in deep denial but that number is slowly diminishing. Not fast enough I'm afraid and most don't realize we are facing our own tyranny here. All of you know this though, right?

at least, regular readers here do.

But, there are many newbies to the blogosphere that need to be initiated to these cold and brutal facts.

Americans are awakening - but, it's a slow process and we may be too late to reverse its cultural and economic decline.

I agree with you and just to expand a bit on that statement. Oil is not important as a factor for making war but who will benefit from the sales of oil is a main reason for this onslaught, political and militant, on Arab world. Don't underestimate Zionist. They are fully aware of the imminent danger of the widespread collapse of Arab pro western regimes which will pave the way for new unified super nation or at least alliance of Muslim Arab nations. I can tell you that at least 90% of Muslims in Arab world would prefer united Muslim super state or at least federation of states similar to USA. What is needed is just the right person to lead them to that realization of their long standing desire. Pro western regimes in ME are aware of that sentiment within their masses and are quite alarmed by the failed polices of US and NATO in ME. However what you see in Iraq and other ME countries is desperate attempts by local regimes and their western patrons to quell and intimidate any group or country to change the status quo of post cold was era. This is why so much of activity is done in and around ME, intimidation. Anyway that will work only as long until people figure out that guerrilla warfare can in fact stretch Zionist armies to unmanageable lengths. West will loose this war due to unimaginable psychological stress that prolonged warfare and insecurity accumulates exponentially. Who is the enemy in the non uniformed ranks on everyday street patrol?! Which sniper is targeting me now? Even initial support from Saddam's victims will dissipate to oblivion when they realize that their country is much more dictatorial and life threatening now than under Saddam. Mubarak, Asad, Kings of Jordan and Saudi, Emirs in artificial protectorates in UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain etc. are doomed to gallows as a consequence of the oppression to their own people. ME pro western alliance is in chaos right now. Their leaders are now haunted by involuntary thinking pattern, something in line of that catchy song "Should I stay (with US) or should I go (to my own people)..." Some of them still have a chance to turn back to their matrices yet some don't. Time will show who got on the last train of absolution.

There is no justification for the fiasco Bush has created in Iraq. But where is the blame to Al-Qaeda. Can they continue to incite civil war, kill, kidnap, displace families, push Shia and Sunny against each other, Create manuals of torture (with drawings for teaching how to use drills on people, gouge eyes out, cut limbs, place bombs in markets), all in the name of fighting the US and the Zionist. We are all one, there is one God. It is the ultimate in Arrogance to kill another human being. All these terms we through around, all these divisions, cloud our judgment. 100 years from now this will all seem like the childish games of a Human Race just learning to live with each other, and the beginnings of a new era where we all love one another. Al-Qaeda hides in the shadows fermenting death, because they know that it will all be blamed on the Zionist and Bush. Lets wake up!!! if that is why this site is here and Identify the true devil.
Once these divisions are gone, there will be no place for DEATH.

Was created from the Muhajadeen in Afghanistan, who were funded by the CIA to fight the Soviets. They are now funded through proxies in Saudi Arabia and Pakistani ISI, if they even exist as a coherent group anymore and are not just the scapegoats when the spooks do the bombings!

The chain of command goes something like this:

International merchant bankers (money and policy)
\/
Mossad/MI5/CIA
\/
House of Saud/Pakistani ISI
\/
Al Quaeda
