Ayman Abu Mahdi, 10, from Jabalia town, in the norther part of the Gaza strip died on Saturday morning of wounds sustained during Israeli army attacks last month.
The child was shot in the head by an Israeli army sharp-shooter during a military invasion to the town on November 25th, and was moved to an Israeli hospital, medical sources reported.
she's a beautiful little girl. She has every right to be proud of her heritage.
But, I think it's important to emphasize that nationalism is NOT what Palestinians are or should be fighting for. (No one explains it better than Arundhati Roy - in the film We) israelis fight for nationalism per se, and it has brought the world nothing but evil.
Palestinians should fight to the end for their dignity - their right as human beings to live on the land on which they were born and to benefit from the fruits of their labor and that of their ancestors.
Not knowing what she was saying...the conclusion I came to from watching her talk was that older people must have put most of those words into her mouth. Maybe if I knew I'd agree with every word she said, but still, it's not really the right way to go about things.
What won me over to the Palestinian cause was seeing pictures of Palestinian children. I'd see a particular picture, and a voice inside me would say, in an excited and hushed tone "Look at that! There's God in that child!" There was no denying it, and they didn't have to say a word. Being a "non-believer" myself brought the point home all the more emphatically.
