I thought that by now the White House would have decided that the strains of the job on his health were too much for Mr. Cheney to continue as vice president, that he would then have stepped down for valid health reasons, and the Republicans would have plugged into the position a viable 2008 presidential candidate.
I can think of several reasons why they didn’t do that (I will give them credit for enough intelligence to at least realize they had a problem). First, Mr. Bush felt he couldn’t live without Mr. Cheney around. Second - and I suspect this is probably the truth of the matter - Mr. Cheney didn’t want to step down and Mr. Bush decided in the end that he didn’t care what happened to the Republican Party after he was out of the White House.
There is also the late-at-night, eerie concern that Mr. Bush has in his head some sort of scenario where, for reasons of national security - real or drummed up - the 2008 elections will have to be postponed and he will get to stay on.
My suspicions have at their base the feeling I have that, given their operating style now, this bunch will not leave the White House easily in 2009.
Nice to see this mainstreamed at last.
Because when the going gets tough, the tough get foily.
Because, really, when to monarchs ever surrender power?

To help me help you, ALL media, including the Internet, will be shut down. Only government approved media outlets, like our dear friends at FOX News, will be allowed on the air.
The Internet needs to be shut down, but this move is temporary. That will give the DHS time to install common-sense controls on the Internet, to prevent the aL-CIAduh terrorists from using this subversive medium.
To further help promote peace and security in our dear "FATHERLAND", armed troops will patrol the streets of major American cities.
Again, my dear friends, this is to protect you from yourselves. Enemies of the "FATHERLAND" are lurking everywhere and these heavily armed troops will be on hand to perform summary executions on the spot to further enhance your security.
Since the Bill of Rights has been declared null and void till further notice, we are asking that any and all firearms be turned into to your local police department for "Inspection." Specially trained units of the National Guard, fresh back from the killing fields of Iraq, will be sent door to door to help you with this vital task.
This is only a temporary measure, designed to protect you, the citizen.
Further, to protect them from any attacks from terrorists, both houses of Congress have been rounded up and taken to a secure, undisclosed location. Again, this is only a temporary move, designed to keep our dear friends away from harm.
Since the U.S. Supreme Court has now been sufficiently packed with right-wing ideologues of my choosing, there will be no need to disband the court.
After all, they will be needed to "rubber-stamp" any and all of my decisions that are absolute and can not be questioned.. except by Reich Fuhrer Cheney.
As some of you have already noticed, various agencies of the federal government, including the FBI, the ATF, ICE and units from both the NSA and CIA, have been rounding up certain citizens, maybe even your neighbors, to put these future terrorists in preventive detention.
Furthermore, to help with the interrogation of these homegrown subversives, certain Army units from GITMO and Abu Ghraib will be on hand to help elicit vital information. Vital information that is needed to help round up more domestic terrorists.
Rest assured, these subversives will be treated more fairly than they deserve, but hey, i'm an easy guy to get along with, just ask any of my corporate donors.
Fellow citizens, these are trying times. Uncertain and dangerous times. To help prevent any future terrorists actions against the FATHERLAND, i am hereby canceling the 2008 elections. Again, this is only a temporary measure, designed with your safety in mind.
When we have finally prevailed in the "War on Terror", elections might be held, that is, if we're not at war with another threat to peace and stability.
So, my fellow citizens, i ask your help in these trying times. With your help, we can be sure of a secure "FATHERLAND" for all.

The issues of the day bear heavily on my heart, this concern that something I once wrote in jest is in truth the game plan of a president who well and truly would be king, and the sad reality that there are about 100 million of people who we call, sometimes, our fellow Americans who would be happy to see him on the throne, rather than suffer sharing power with the other 200 million of us.

DeFazio asks, but he's denied access

WASHINGTON -- Oregonians called Peter DeFazio's office, worried there was a conspiracy buried in the classified portion of a White House plan for operating the government after a terrorist attack.
As a member of the U.S. House on the Homeland Security Committee, DeFazio, D-Ore., is permitted to enter a secure "bubbleroom" in the Capitol and examine classified material. So he asked the White House to see the secret documents.
On Wednesday, DeFazio got his answer: DENIED....
It has been for a long time. We have been living under a Totalitarian system packaged as 'freedom and democracy' for a while now. The next logical step is greater Totalitarian Control so that the packaging peels away and the reality becomes apparent.
The two party system, where behind the facade and staged event, both are the same in principle and practice is what we call "democracy". Both the parties are funded by the money power. The money power is one.
None of the two parties ever question the Totalitarian control exerted by the Fractional Reserve System. This is the power foundation for the Money power. This is how they enslave everyone.
The petty officials, Police and Army when they are called upon to turn the guns on their own domestic citizens will probably do it without hesitation, having been schooled and trained for decades to obey authority and to do as they are told, if they want to be in a job, have a pension and other slave perks.
