Christopher Hitchens on Islam

"Finally, it turns out to be impossible to determine whether jihad means more alms-giving or yet more zealous massacre of, say, Shiite Muslims."

http://www.slate.com/id/2171371/fr/flyout

I find it interesting that he chose the word Shiite here instead of something else.

Not that I agree with Mr. Hitchens profound athiesm but at least he keeps things rhetorical:

"When I check into a hotel room and send my free and unsolicited copy of the Gideon Bible or the Book of Mormon spinning out of the window, I infringe no law, except perhaps the one concerning litter. Why do we not make this distinction in the case of the Quran?"

..of course...the reason the other books do not warrant such respect is that they were written by humans or at the very least with regards to the Bible....manipulated after the fact.

Quran (6:108)"And insult not those whom they (disbelievers) worship besides Allah, lest they insult Allah wrongfully without knowledge. Thus We have made fairseeming to each people its own doings; then to their Lord is their return and He shall then inform them of all that they used to do".

Did I insult someone?

And it is impossible to insult the "God" of an athiest Mr. Muslim. They don't believe in any false God that I might make that awful mistake about.

As far as "insulting" other believers of whatever stripe....well. That doesn't mean I will lie to anyone about the truth.

Period.

Thanks for your comment. Peace.

that I fear it may be hopeless to try to get you to behave civilly with others.

as difficult as this may be for someone with a huge ego like yours to understand, you're not the only one in the world entitled to believe what you believe in without being berated and belittled at every turn.

Christopher Hitchens is a hypocrit and a liar, with extremely poor analytical skills.

But, it's worth reading his drivel every once in a while just to confirm he hasn't changed.

How, for example, can you claim to be tolerant if - as he advocates - we do not 'tolerate' other people's beliefs, such that you insist on 'the freedom' to berate them?

The theory may sound appealing, when it stands unopposed, but it does not fair well upon scrutiny.

And his hollow complaints about muslims demanding respect upon threat of violence would be laughable if it weren't for the fact that his favorite little Jewish 'state' insists - on pain of nuclear annihilation - that its neighbors formally acknowledge its right to exist as a racist apartheid regime granted to them by their own little holy book - the Talmud.

And you are an abusive and ignorant person.

Is it okay for me to give you the same thing you are dishing out to me qrs?

Your level of hypocrisy surprises me somewhat but not entirely.

A person who thinks something they don't know isn't worth knowing needs to understand that that which YOU don't want to hear or know about IS within the reach of others.

That's not my wisdom but the wisdom of my favorite "role model".

You remind me of the type of person in the Quran who likes to stick their fingers in their ears and shout "I can't hear you!"

Well duh missy. Take yer fingers out and perhaps you'll learn to learn EVEN from those you despise (which to me looks to be anyone who DARES disagree with you or ANYONE whom you've been griping alongside for an extended period on your very own "message board".

Whatever.

Like I said..I don't have much time for idgits including you.

I'll be leaving soon and gathering supporters elsewhere on the internet.

As has always been my style honeypie.

Thanks for nothing.

And I might add:

This site has gained me a paltry fifty or so views over three months. That means qrs (since yer a bit out of touch with statistical blog analysis) you are being read over and over and over again by the same idgits.

Whereas another site just this am has gained me over fifty view in the course of several hours.

Put that in your clogged pipe and smoke it.

Peace on those that deserve it.

"This site has gained me a paltry fifty or so views over three months. That means qrs (since yer a bit out of touch with statistical blog analysis) you are being read over and over and over again by the same idgits." --Maggie Porter, Humanitarian, World Renowned Writer, Blog Expert, Expert Expert, Idgit Hater

Maggie Porter, you really have to chill out and stop attacking everyone. Listen to yourself a little bit and think about the things you are saying about people you don't even know.

I read WUFYS because I think people on this blog keep an open mind, and are not afraid to honestly discuss current political/social matters. It happens to have a number of Muslim contributors, which as a Catholic I appreciate because I want to interact with Muslims on peaceful terms.

It has never occurred to me to count how many people log on to this site, because that would not impvove the quality of the site in my eyes. I am not trying to sell anybody anything. I am just talking and listening to other people. (I have been on other "famous" blogs, where people are cluelessly repeating what they just were told by the MSM.)

QRS has her little tag that I love: "Money has no value -- People do." I love that because it makes me re-examine how I look at other people. Instead of looking at them for what I can get out of them, or how I can use them, I should look at other people as awesomely made brothers and sisters. They were created by God, as I was, and they all have value as individuals.

So perhaps this blog is not as populous as some others. I happen to think this blog has a high quality of "idgit" that makes up for the "paltry views".

"Stop judging by appearances, but judge justly."

This is shill speak, Maggie, be warned.

RowanBerkeley | Wed, 2007-08-01 11:30

Any blog that can not stand in the wind of public comments is not going anywhere. It is easy to see them, The public forums encourage All to speak and never within reason edit ones speech.

Comment moderation means you are not willing to be OPEN and above board with EVERYONE even the ones to come onto others words long after the were first posted.. DBS can't do this. Carmenisacat Can't do it either.

WUFYS CAN and does DAILY! Because WE want to. Others can follow our example or they can moderate there comment spaces and suffer all that this does to free speech.

If WUFYS was not hammering the crap out of some particularly sensitive nails for the American government they would not be in here whipping up so much crap to mask the real truths we guard and share.

Ms Porter could learn just as everyone could that trying to fight truth with lies will ALWAYS fail. For the number of nutcase bullet proof god fearing human idgit's with truth FAR outnumber the liars.

Maggie: "I'll be leaving soon and gathering supporters elsewhere on the internet."

Supporters for what Maggie?! Haven't you said you don't mind what people think of you and that you are not interested in making friends around here. Hmm...well this sounds to me like you've came here to make enemies. Not nice Maggie really its not nice behavior for someone who claims to have Imam Ali as his role model. I told you before that Nahjul Balagha speaks about Imam Ali's supporters as ignorant and disobedient and now it seems that you too are showing such attributes. What an irony...
