President: Iran Nuclear Case Closed
TEHRAN, Aug 28--President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said here Tuesday that from Tehran's point of view Iran's nuclear case is closed.
"I announce officially that from our point of view Iran's nuclear case has been closed," said President Ahmadinejad in a press conference in Tehran.
President Ahmadinejad said that all those, who used their influence in the world decision making centers to force the Iranian nation to retreat, have now realized their mistake.
"Those thinking that by diplomatic and discriminatory gestures and by abusing their power in the world decision making bodies, they could force the Iranian nation to withdraw from its position, have today come to the conclusion that their path has been wrong," announced the president.
Ahmadinejad reiterated that Tehran has achieved full proficiency in the nuclear fuel cycle and warned the West that dialogue and friendship, not threats, were the right way to deal with Iran.
"Today, Iran is a nuclear Iran,'' Ahmadinejad told a press conference in Tehran. That means, "it fully possesses the whole nuclear fuel cycle.''
Ahmadinejad, however, said his country was committed to a "peaceful path'' in pursuing its peaceful nuclear program.
Ahmadinejad's comments followed an announcement Monday by the International Atomic Energy Agency which said that Iran and the IAEA reached a deal on Aug. 21 meant to clarify questions about Iran's declared drive for peaceful nuclear energy.
Iran signed the Additional Protocol in December 2003 voluntarily as part of its "confidence-building" efforts but suspended it recently in protest at a second round of sanctions.
Turning to Iraq standoff, President also said "Iran is ready to help Iraq after withdrawal of United States troops from Iraq."
"We are witnessing the collapse of the occupiers of Iraq and we will soon have a power vacuum in that country."
"In cooperation with neighboring countries, such as Saudi Arabia, we would be prepared to fill this power vacuum for the sake of aiding the Iraqi government and people," Ahmadinejad said.
He blamed the US for having only caused more instability to Iraq and the Middle East region and said that the regional countries should cooperate in stabilizing Iraq.
Ahmadinejad rejected once again US accusations against Iran over supporting insurgents and said that Iran and Iraq have had a peaceful coexistence for centuries and blamed the 1980-1988 imposed war on the US for having provoked the late Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein to attack Iran.
"You (the United States) cannot preserve your power over Iraq with a few tanks, artillery and weapons. Today, you are prisoners of your own quagmire. Today you have no choice but to accept the rights of the Iraqi people," he said.
Ahmadinejad also dismissed the chance of any US attack on Iran over its nuclear drive, saying a warning by his new French counterpart Nicolas Sarkozy only showed his inexperience.
Ahmadinejad said Iran was now cooperating so well with the UN atomic agency that the long-running investigation into its nuclear program was now "closed" and further UN sanctions action against Tehran were improbable.
"There is no way a possibility of such an attack by the United States. Even if they take such a decision, they cannot implement it," he added.

Ahmadinejad: Iran Considers N. Case Closed
TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad stressed that from his country's view, Tehran's nuclear case is closed.
Speaking to foreign reporters during a press conference here on Tuesday, the president noted enemies' efforts to prevent Iran from restoring its nuclear rights, and said, "Although the IAEA reports showed non-diversion of Iran's nuclear activities, these opponents threatened us of military invasion."
"According to regulations of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), every country has the right to gain access to peaceful nuclear energy," he added.
But some "big powers" would not admit Iran's advancement and wanted to deprive the Iranians of their "legal rights and peaceful utilization" of nuclear energy, he said.
"But they made a mistake because they didn't know the Iranian nation and didn't know that they were dealing with a thoughtful, courageous and faithful nation," he added.
Ahmadinejad stressed Iran's insistent on nuclear rights, and said that his country resumed operation of Natanz nuclear enrichment facility merely to respond to the enemies' expansionism and threats.
He said every threat posed to Tehran by enemies would be responded by further nuclear progress by Iranian nation, reminding, "They passed a (UN Security Council) resolution against us, we told them not to do so, but they didn't pay attention and thus, we entered the industrial phase of nuclear fuel production."
The president reiterated the peaceful nature of his country's nuclear activities, and said, "Iran has always had close cooperation with the (International Atomic Energy) Agency and this cooperation is unique."
"There is no single IAEA member state which has had so much cooperation with the Agency that Iran has had," he added.
"From our viewpoint, Iran's nuclear issue has ended," Ahmadinejad said, reminding that the West has now found out that harsh measures against the Iranian nation would yield no fruit.
"Iran is a nuclear state which is moving on a peaceful path and seeks to attain its rights within rules and regulations," he added.
"Some countries regret their previous measures against Iran. Many of these countries are in contact with us and say that they thought Iran would retreat when it is faced with threats and they confess that they had erred," the president continued.
Reminding that one or two powers are still insisting on their belligerent approach towards Iran, he addressed such powers, and said, "You made the problem… the world countries are not seeking war and bomb. I advise you to give up this ugly behavior."
