Crypto Religious Pontificating

I feel compelled to post my very first blog here in order to salvage some history from this very site.

Jesse, AKA The Dead Bishop, deleted two of his blogs posted here today. The first blog had approximately a dozen replies and the subject was regarding the Catholic Church and Communist Russia. A couple of Biblical verses were also quoted and his usual mention of Mary etc. The second blog that he deleted had four messages and was an announcement of his apparent intent not to post here anymore.

I've been reading most of the blogs and their respective comments for several months and only comment occasionally. Jesse, I pointed out this morning, was stating things in a manner Most unusual for a self professed Catholic. Having been raised and educated as one I would think my observations are based on how all the Catholics I know from across the country behave. Certain knowledge, though not secret by any means, is common:

Catholics do not Proselytize-that's for Priests and Nuns

Catholics do not quote Biblical Passages-unless to other Catholics in discussion, even then most Catholics do not read the bible as Protestants quote so often. The Church/Priest/Nun interpret the Bible for you, no real discussion (questions, yes) takes place

Catholics do not suggest others Pray the Rosary Daily-Maybe to another Catholic but not to the public at large and rarely if then (never happened to me except from a priest after confession or at a funeral)

Catholics do not wish upon non-Catholics, Jesus through Mary or whatever odd statement. Go with God after church maybe or Peace be with you etc.

Now, admittedly, I have not been a practicing Catholic for a long while but most family members are still with the Church as well as relatives and most of my neighbors.

I pointed out these rather odd inconsistencies to Jesse and perhaps this is why he deleted both blogs of his. I believe that I exposed him as a Catholic pretender and, possibly a pretender of other things. I have noticed this with The Dead Bishop/Jesse for quite a while and only today decided to say something. Gosh, how did I know he was so sensitive?

While Jesse's behavior was different from most Catholics, I don't believe he is/was a shill.

(Is it just this blog, but why does everyone think everyone is a shill with some hidden agenda?)

I agree that most Catholics don't tell people of other faiths to pray the rosary. That seems like a real uphill battle: "I know you don't believe what I believe, but will you say five "Our Fathers" and 50 "Hail Marys"."

And most Catholics don't try to tell other Christian faiths about the message of Fatima. Protestants are especially unreceptive to this sort of appeal. One of the major beefs Protestants bring up re: Catholics is that we have devotions to the Blessed Mother. (One guy posted on this site about a secret plan by Catholics to make a Blue Laser Virgin Mary in the sky that was going to be used by the Pope to take over the world. I am not kidding.)

But while Jesse/Dead Bishop did have two identities, I never caught him at doing anything "crypto". He was talking about his own special interests: praying the Rosary and the dedication of Russia, which is a bone of contention with Fatima believers.

Although many at this sight do not share Jesse's beliefs, I don't think I could characterize his actions as lying. Also, I cannot say that Jesse was providing any sort of a purposeful diversion. These seem to be the major motivations for disinformation, and so I don't think that was what he was up to.

So while Jesse's actions were "different" from what "normal" Catholics do, I don't think he is a shill.

I do wish he hadn't removed the material I wrote yesterday. I spent a lot of time writing that. Dagblamit!

thing was perhaps a little too harsh for Jesse but, not having posted a blog before this, I was thinking the "Posted In" would automatically assign links for me. Oh, I had to create them, duh!. so I made up a couple.

The only thing that I had pointed out to Jesse in his blog re: Fatima were covered in my post above and not nearly as detailed. I did not call him a shill but I did question his claim to being a Catholic.

I do not recall anything in his posts that were otherwise suggesting he was running a hidden agenda. For that I retract the Shill link and apologize. Thank you for pointing this out.

Doh! - If I had known I wouldn't have commented again!

Oh well.

I liked Dead Bishop, aka, Jesse.

But, I am disappointed that he 'pulled' those posts.

I mean it's anyone's perogative to pull their own posts, but out of courtesy, I expect contributors to think about other people's contributions and not delete their comments, just as I consider the efforts of those who contribute posts.

Are the rest of his posts gone too?

has been so violently fanatic and full of hatred.
That has come out of fashion within the Catholic church a very long time ago.
To make the "enemy" look bad is one of the tactics of hasbara.

..thanks, claymore!

..i just noticed my post on that thread was deleted before the thread itself..

..it read something like this:

That Fatima, Portugal incident sounds to me just like the Mormon Joseph Smith's encounter!

Grim Reaper | Thu, 2007-08-30 10:04

and as such, I think you deserve a reply to what you posted..and I quote you.
"Doh! - If I had known I wouldn't have commented again!"
What, you only post to be noticed by others? I thought of it as a more intimate way of communicating with each other..a from-the-heart kind of dialoge if you will.

"Oh well."
At the risk of saying anything that would be misunderstood or taken out of context...

"I liked Dead Bishop, aka, Jesse."
So, are you saying you don't anymore? Is that what my friendship meant to you? A couple of dropped blogs ( which I am getting around to explaining to YOU because you deserve the courtesy, because I still like/respect you.

"But, I am disappointed that he 'pulled' those posts."
I'm getting to that , please be patient.

"I mean it's anyone's perogative to pull their own posts, but out of courtesy, I expect contributors to think about other people's contributions and not delete their comments, just as I consider the efforts of those who contribute posts."
I was not very good at keeping my personal beliefs a secret. Pretty hard to do when one wears their faith "on their sleeve" as it were. As a Catholic, whether you agree or not or even understand or not, if people choose to blasphene God's Church or His Mother, ( my faith here, so my call on how to interperet the comments i.e. my conscience with what God would be offended by,) it would be beneficial to remove such harmful words not only for my own soul...but for the sake of the soul that made the comments, whether that was their intention or not..I am required to do so, according to my faith. Can you imagine the flack I would draw on my site if I made a ( true ) comment like " according to the Catholic Church, it is a MORTAL sin to go to Iraq and kill any body!? How many Catholics are over there? Do you think they're Catholic? They do!!!

"Are the rest of his posts gone too?"
I purposely left the post about the 3 days of darkness. I don't believe it's avoidable at this late stage of the "game". Hold on...we're in for a rough ride" You should know that you are all in my prayers.

Jesse,

First, thanks for your comment. I'm glad that you're back. When you pulled your last post I thought you were gone. That's why I used past tense when referring to my affection for you. I should have used present tense, as I continue to feel that way.

Second, of course, I write my comments to get noticed! (among other things - to communicate, to speak, to be heard, to convey a message) otherwise I wouldn't sign my name. I could just write anonymously.

You may think that is vain. I think it's normal. I exist, therefore I communicate.

My time is very precious, as I am sure is all of yours. When I take the time to comment publicly - I want to be heard and I want to get noticed. I want people to know me, where I stand, and what I believe in, by witnessing my reactions to certain issues. This is accomplished nicely through public comments to any given post.

I realize and empathize with your need to tear down any words you consider blasphemous against God - some Muslims believe that they have a similar duty. I don't (but, that's not my point).

The problem is - when you delete your post - you delete my comment too!

That annoys me to no end because that comment was an investment on my part.

If I wanted only you to see it, then I would have sent a personal message to you. At which point, you would have every right to delete it. But, the comment was made publicly with the intention that many readers would learn something about me that I felt was important enough to communicate.

How would you feel if honestabe were to delete this post before I read the comment that you spent some time formulating and writing? Not very good, I imagine. (neither would I - so, don't do it abe!)

And I don't think it would make you feel better that he did it for religious reasons.

That's all I wanted to communicate with my 'he did it again!' comment.

I admit, I was a bit theatrical with "Doh!" and "oh well" but I was very disappointed at having lost my comment forever.

I still like and respect you - but I hope that you don't do it again. Or, if you feel your religious beliefs require you to delete any comments you deem blasphemous, I ask that in the future you warn readers underneath every post that you reserve the right to delete the post with all its comments and that you have done so in the past.

I doubt that you will get any comments. But, that might be what you are looking for. In fact, I could disable comments for you, if you just want to communicate your thoughts.

However, I can't guarantee that someone won't simply create their own blog in response to yours, e.g., what honestabe did with this one. At which point, you would have no control over whether it stays or it goes.

Sometimes, it's best to leave control to God.

Thanks, Jesse - you taught me a lot about myself through this incident.

You too are always in my prayers - as is everyone else who comments at this site and strives for peace and harmony among God's creatures.

..they have to be uploaded to an online server, like photobucket or your myspace acct.

..i have no quarrel with the message of peace from Fatima, but wonder why the 'sun moved around' only there and nowhere else on Earth!

..my assertion is that it wasn't the sun at all.

..in the future, please do not delete my posts, thanks! :)

Glad you didn't leave for good. I never got around to thanking you for welcoming me to this site. That was a true exhibit of your non-shillness :-) Thank you!

Just a lurker here trying to wade thru all the accusations/mud slinging. But enjoy the information and my thanks to all.

for adding your voice to the discussion.

the more people we hear from, the stronger our voice becomes.

Let me get this clear. You removed your post so that in doing so you could also remove the 'harmful words' of others that "blaspheme God's Church or His Mother"? So, in effect, you are engaging in censorship?

There are many in the world, and here on this site, to whom the whole concept of "God's Mother" is blasphemous. Would be happy if your words were deleted because they might cause offence to others?

I expected a more civilised and mature answer from someone who professes to be a Christian.

I take it you don't have a problem with removing messages you don't like. It is not that big a step from there to removing the messenger who bears the message you don't like.

I don't like censorship. Period. As much as what YOU write bugs me, I would never advocate removing it. I expect the same courtesy from you.

everyone, for posting on this blog!

I'm watching "Red Dawn" on AMC right now and feel immensely saddened. The movie is over 25 years old but applies today more than ever. Substitute the Russian invaders for Blackwater and UN troops, then introduce another false flag and, WALLAH, terror upon the US Citizens!

Moral of my post; let's all keep focused on the real issues...and that applies to me more than most here!

AND on a trip at the same time. What fun that was. Sorry. I am skimming madly through the posts but I find I still have no time. So much has probably been going on since I've been out of the fold at WUFYS. Now I find I have to get off the computer to make a forgotten appointment. The madness of August.

I will try to come back soon and catch up. Glad to see Erlenda's back. Hello Q. Hope everyone has been well.
