The Israeli Lobby and How we got into Iraq
Coolly, not to say coldly, Mr. Mearsheimer and Mr. Walt mount a prosecutorial brief against Israel’s foreign and domestic policies, and against the state of Israel itself. They describe a virtual rogue state, empowered by American wealth and might, that blocks peace at every turn, threatens its cowering neighbors with impunity, crushes the national aspirations of the Palestinians and, whenever the opportunity arises, bites the hand that feeds it.
Working tirelessly in the background is the Israel lobby, playing Iago to America’s Othello, leading president after president down ever more dangerous paths. Without intense pressure from the Israel lobby, the authors argue, America would not have undertaken the war in Iraq.
Without the intense pressure from the Israeli Lobby, American flag draped caskets would not be coming home from Iraq.
Without the Israeli Lobby turning our Congress into one huge, whorehouse, we might still have some money in the US Treasury.
Without the Israeli Lobby, there might be actual peace in the ME.
As long as the Israeli Lobby has our Congress by the short hairs, there will be no peace in the ME and we will forever remain a nation of serfs.
NEVER AGAIN!!
NO MORE AMERICAN BLOOD FOR ISRAEL.
NEVER AGAIN!!!!

Certainly the USA invaded Iraq at israel’s behest, but I think additional factors were involved.
1. The invasion was a warning to other oil-producing nations of what will happen to them if they stop accepting dollars for their oil, as Iraq did in 2000. Given America’s massive trade deficits, the only thing that keeps the American economy going is that oil is traded in dollars. This forces the world to keep dollars as its reserve currency.
2. To make weapons producers even richer. With the fall of the USSR, weapons makers needed a new “enemy,” which is now Islam, plus any nation that questions israel or the Bush regime.
3. To boost the global trade in heroin. The Taliban almost completely eradicated heroin production, but with the October 2001 invasion of Afghanistan, Bush and the global Jewish crime syndicates brought the heroin trade back and increased it to record levels. Afghanistan was also invaded so oil pipelines to India would run through Afghanistan, rather than Russia.
4. To increase federal power. When a nation is at war, it is much easier to impose marshal law, steal property, spy on people, torture them, and send them to places like Guantanamo. Every conceivable crime by government, or the rich, or israel, is excused by the “war on terror.”
One more reason to invade Iraq was posited by QRS, and I agree with it.
The invasion of Iraq was not to get Iraq's oil, but to keep that oil in the ground. This helps cause oil shortages, which in turn boosts the prices that oil companies can charge for fuel.
When oil starts to run out, oil companies will start to extract oil from Iraq.
