Iran's parliament has approved a nonbinding resolution to label the CIA and the US army as "terrorist organisations".
The move is seen as a diplomatic tit-for-tat after the US senate also voted in favour of a motion urging the state department to designate Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps a "terrorist organisation."
The signing of the resolution by 215 politicians at an open session of the Iranian parliament was broadcast live on television on Saturday.
The statement said: "The aggressor US army and the Central Intelligence Agency are terrorists and also nurture terror."
Depleted uranium
The parliament said the two organisations were terrorists for a number of reasons.
It said they were involved in dropping nuclear bombs in Japan in World War II and used depleted uranium munitions in the Balkans, Afghanistan and Iraq.
It also said they supported the killings of Palestinians by Israel, bombed and killed Iraqi civilians and tortured terror suspects in prisons.
The resolution urges Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's, the Iranian president, government to treat the two as terrorist organisations.
It also paves the way for the resolution to become legislation which, if ratified by the country's constitutional watchdog, would become law.
Awaiting reaction
The government is expected to remain silent over the parliament resolution and wait for US reaction before making its decision.
On Wednesday, the US senate voted 76-22 in favour of a resolution urging the state department to designate Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps a terrorist organisation.
While the proposal attracted overwhelming bipartisan support, a small group of Democrats said they feared labeling the state-run organisation a terrorist group could be interpreted as a congressional authorisation of military force in Iran.
The Bush administration had already been considering whether to blacklist an elite unit within the Revolutionary Guard, subjecting part of the vast military operation to financial sanctions.

The Iranians have a long list of US and Israeli crimes to prove why the US army and the CIA are terrorists but I haven't yet seen the list of crimes the Iranian revolutionary gaurds are accused of-there isn't even a zionist there to spit at (that would have been enough)
Its other crime could be defending Iran too well to prevent the terrorists from doing their job well-now that is terrorism in the eys of Bush and the zios. You see only Israel and NO ONE ELSE has the right to defend itself.
Israel can employ terrorism to defend itself and not be terrorist while others (any muslim nation for example) will be labeled as terrorists if they even try defend themselves.
Some people may think that they're foolish.
But, the iranians are so smart.

I don't remember any freedom loving or democratic country proclaiming this undeniable truth that CIA and US military are terrorist organizations. They should have included FBI, Mossad, MI5, MI6. Why FBI, well they had a lot to do in covering up the truth about 911.
