Cleric urging calm gunned down in Gaza

Unidentified gunmen shot dead a Muslim cleric after he delivered a sermon in the Gaza Strip on Friday calling for an end to fierce factional fighting between Hamas and Fatah, hospital officials and local residents said.

The cleric's shooting in central Gaza came hours after Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh of Hamas said he and President Mahmoud Abbas of Fatah had agreed to keep rival gunmen off Gaza's streets after clashes in which eight were killed.

Tension was high across the coastal strip as thousands of Palestinians loyal to Fatah took part in funeral marches for a commander killed in a barrage of rocket-propelled grenades fired by Hamas gunmen on Thursday.

Brushing aside Haniyeh's plea for calm, Fatah issued a statement in Gaza: "Blood for blood and aggression for aggression ... and all the sons of the movement should retaliate to each aggression openly."

The cleric, who was in a car when the gunmen opened fire, was not affiliated to any faction.

No group claimed responsibility for the shooting, which occurred after prayers at a mosque in the Maghazi refugee camp.

This is Mossad's handiwork - israel will liquidate ANYONE who threatens to stem the civil war it so desperately seeks.

This has allways been the way they work.
And for weeks now they have been arming Fatah for the expressed purpose of starting a civil war among Palestinians.
Even the "blood for blood" quote might be Israeli instigated. Fatah is probably totally infiltrated by collaborators.
Some time ago Umkhalil had on her blog an article showing how Israeli interrogators brainwashed young teenagers, they had detained, into becoming collaborators.
Mind-game methods were used, and against those methods children just do not have any protection.
When those kids then grow up, they have been compromised and they can be blackmailed by the Israelis to go on being informers or collaborators.

Actually, I see it as a sign of strength how well the Palestinian population does resist those tactics.
I pray, they will be able, to stop the instigated civil war in its tracks, as they have done many times before.

It's important that the Palestinians not let the Jewish Supremacists turn them against each other.
