Sarkozy gives go-ahead to expel extremist Muslims from France

French President Nicolas Sarkozy threatened to expel any extremists who want to upset calm in France on Monday.
Speaking at an iftar dinner breaking the Ramadan fast at the Grand Mosque of Paris, the French president said those who wanted to kill or commit violence in the name of Islam, who detested others in the name of Islam, had nothing to do on French soil.”
"Those who do not want to spread the message of peace will be expelled from French territory,” he added.
Observers believe that Nicolas Sarkosy’s presence in the iftar dinner at the Grand Mosque of Paris is a “political act” meant for transmitting a political message to Muslim countries especially North African ones.
Sarkozy’s statement came after Al-Qaeda’s second number Ayman Al-Zawahiri had urged to “cleanse” the Maghreb of French and Spanish who are staying in former colonies in North Africa.
After praising religious tolerance in France, Sarkozy urged Muslim countries to treat their non-Muslim minorities especially Jews and Christians better.
Movement against Racism and for Friendship between Peoples has expressed its displeasure over continuing anti-Islam acts in France saying offences against Muslims and Islam increased in the last months in France.
The Movement also mentioned racist behaviour with Muslims and the increasing number of anti-Islam websites without any intervention from French authorities to put and end to them.
