Uranium 'killing Italian troops'

Italian soldiers are still dying following exposure to depleted uranium in the wars in Bosnia and Kosovo, their relatives say.
Troops who served during the wars in the 1990s believe they have contracted cancer and other serious illnesses from extended exposure to the munitions.
The US says it fired around 40,000 depleted uranium rounds during the Bosnian and Kosovo conflicts.
A pressure group says 50 veterans have died and another 200 are seriously ill.
Depleted uranium is used on the tips of bullets and shells. Because of its density it can pierce the armour plating on tanks.
But when it explodes it often leaves a footprint of chemically poisonous and radioactive dust.
The Italians who served in Bosnia and Kosovo were involved in the clear-up of battlefields and came into close contact with exploded ammunition.
Children with disabilities
The association representing the soldiers, known as Anavafaf, says many of those who have died or are ill have contracted cancer.
In 2002 the Italian defence ministry published a report compiled by independent scientists which found a higher than average number of servicemen were suffering from cancer.
It said there was an excessive number of Hodgkin's disease victims among Italian Balkan peacekeepers.
A number of children fathered by the soldiers have been born with disabilities.
There are similar reports from soldiers' associations in Belgium, Spain, Portugal and the Netherlands.
Both the US and Britain acknowledge the dust from depleted uranium can be dangerous if inhaled but they insist the danger is short-lived and localised.

All kidding aside, I suspect that the US sub was trying to use the tanker as cover to get into the Strait of Hormuz undetected.
Otherwise, we are left to assume that US submarines are pretty much unable to sense a tanker ship right in front of them."
According the the article's title on aljazeera.com, "Who's planning the world's upcoming war?" -- the answer should be BLOODY OBVIOUS --> "Jews", they were responsible in the past, they are responsible for the wars now, and they'll pull the entire world into a "never-ending world wars"....
....a 'permanent' age of darkness, to full their 'prophecy' of taken their place as the absolute rulers, the 'chosen-ones'...

Israel's war, according to Netanyahu, must be sold as America's war.
Bush’s much anticipated speech in which he’s expected to announce to his nation new plans for Iraq and the reaction to it will determine the next step in Iraq, test the American President’s relations with the new power in the Congress; the Democrats, and set the path for his final two years in office.
Some analysts say it could increase pressure for withdrawal from Iraq, or encourage another war in the region, this time against Iran.
As Americans and the whole world awaits President George W. Bush’s speech scheduled for Wednesday night, where he'll attempt to sell his nation his new decision of committing more troops and money to his failing war in Iraq that's already cost more than 3,000 American lives and at least $300 billion, it’s important to not miss the larger picture- “The War Party is turning its attention from Iraq -- to Iran.,” stated an article on Pittsburgh Tribune.
Bush must be asking himself amidst growing dissatisfaction with his policies at home and worldwide, “will I leave here as the man who launched failed wars in Iraq and Afghanistan that cost thousands of U.S. dead, to no avail? Or can I yet enter history as the Churchillian statesman who used U.S. power to save America and Israel from the mortal threat of atomic weapons in the hands of the Iranian mullahs?” according to Pittsburgh Tribune’s editorial.
What will be Bush’s choice, and what legacy does he prefer to leave his nation and the world?
Would he dare launch another war, with only two years left for him as the President of the world’s most powerful country? Or will his failure in Iraq prevent him from embarking on another costly and stupid adventure, particularly one that relies on the same premise that was so discredited in Iraq; “protecting the world against the alleged threat of weapons of mass destruction”.
A UN Resolution 1737 that prohibits the sale of any materials to Iran that could be used in their "enrichment related, reprocessing or heavy water related activities," was passed unanimously by the Council’s 15 members last month. It also imposes restrictions on the movements of twenty-two people or entities involved in the nuclear program, the Ballistic missile program or both, as well as freezing their "funds, other financial assets and economic resources."
Iran has previously refused to stop its nuclear activities in line with Resolution 1696, which issued an August 31 deadline for Tehran to stop all enrichment and other nuclear activities.
The Islamic Republic is now two weeks into a 60-day deadline to answer the UN 1737 resolution, which was passed unanimously and gives Bush the UN cover he needs to wage war, just like he did with Iraq over three years ago.
In case Iran fails to meet the UN deadline, the U.S. will likely call for tougher measures against it, and up the escalator we go.
The U.S. and UK seem to be readying plans for a military confrontation against Iran.
Both states began moving additional warships and strike aircraft into the Persian Gulf region in what analysts describe as a display of military resolve toward Iran. Also Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates is believed to have approved a request for placing a second aircraft carrier and its supporting ships within quick sailing distance of Iran by early next year.
Washington and the U.S. may be sending signals, but Israel on the other hand is finalizing plans for a military strike against Iran.
A report on the Sunday Times of London earlier this week stated that Israel is preparing nuclear strike on the Iranian nuclear program, using tactical nuclear "bunker busters" supplied by the United States.
Israel quickly denied the Times article. But the report has a certain truthiness. Israel is certainly considering how to stop Tehran from getting its hands on nukes.
Retired Gen. Oded Tira stated that:
"As an American air strike in Iran is essential for our existence, we must help (Bush) pave the way by lobbying the Democratic Party (which is conducting itself foolishly) and U.S. newspaper editors. We need to do this in order to turn the Iranian issue to a bipartisan one and unrelated to the Iraq failure."
"The Americans must act," Tira concludes. "If they don't, we'll do it ourselves ... (and) we must immediately start preparing for an Iranian response to an attack."
Tira's remarks echoed the New Year's Day message of Benjamin Netanyahu, the former Israeli Prime Minister.
Said Netanyahu, Israel "must immediately launch an intense, international public relations front first and foremost on the U.S. The goal being to encourage President Bush to live up to specific pledges he would not allow Iran to arm itself with nuclear weapons. We must make clear to the (U.S.) government, the Congress and the American public that a nuclear Iran is a threat to the U.S. and the entire world, not only Israel."
Israel's war, according to Netanyahu, must be sold as America's war.
The question is will the Congress be fooled to enter another war for the sake of Israel, or will the Democrats-led Congress have the courage to take the war option out of the American President’s hands?
Everyone had better get the message about the use of Uranium-238 bombs,missiles,bullets and tank ammo. Tons upon tons of this nuke plant garbage thrown around with the knowledge that sooner or later everyone is going to suffer real nasty things and either die or flee. Soon Iraq citys will be un-recoverable because of the use of all the different types of ordinace in use even today and one major ammo dump fire as well at Camp FALCON.
