If ever there was a conflict that needs resolving - it's the conflict of interest between weapons manufacturers and the people - on both sides - who die by their swords.
Israel has won a project to supply an advanced anti-tank missile to the Spanish Army.The state-owned Rafael, Israel Armament Development Authority has won a $424.5 million project to supply the Spike long-range anti-tank missile to Spain. Rafael has been teamed with General Dynamics for the contract.
The contract, announced by General Dynamics on Wednesday, calls for the manufacture of 260 launchers and 2,600 missiles, executives said. They said the contract would completed by 2014.
Executives said the contract was awarded by the Spanish Defense Ministry in late December 2006. They said 60 percent of the program would be conducted in Spain, with General Dynamics Santa Barbara Sistemas selected as the prime contractor.
