Paul Krugman: 'There's no such thing as Islamofascism'

Set aside the fact that he continues to legitimize the ridiculous myth that "Al Qaeda" pulled off 9/11, Paul Krugman deserves our thanks for using his podium at the New York Times to expose these neo-crazies for what they really are.

[T]here isn’t actually any such thing as Islamofascism — it’s not an ideology; it’s a figment of the neocon imagination. The term came into vogue only because it was a way for Iraq hawks to gloss over the awkward transition from pursuing Osama bin Laden, who attacked America, to Saddam Hussein, who didn’t. And Iran had nothing whatsoever to do with 9/11 — in fact, the Iranian regime was quite helpful to the United States when it went after Al Qaeda and its Taliban allies in Afghanistan.

Beyond that, the claim that Iran is on the path to global domination is beyond ludicrous. Yes, the Iranian regime is a nasty piece of work in many ways, and it would be a bad thing if that regime acquired nuclear weapons. But let’s have some perspective, please: we’re talking about a country with roughly the G.D.P. of Connecticut, and a government whose military budget is roughly the same as Sweden’s.

Meanwhile, the idea that bombing will bring the Iranian regime to its knees — and bombing is the only option, since we’ve run out of troops — is pure wishful thinking. Last year Israel tried to cripple Hezbollah with an air campaign, and ended up strengthening it instead. There’s every reason to believe that an attack on Iran would produce the same result, with the added effects of endangering U.S. forces in Iraq and driving oil prices well into triple digits. [snip]

The shift in "public" opinion (as presented by the MSM) is promising, I know.

However, I can't help but feel nervous - with all the odds stacking up against a popular attack against Iran, these crazies are more likely to do something unbelievably insane.

For a long time, the Bushies tried to give the war against Iraq and Afghanistan some kind of label, that we dumbass Americans would latch onto and repeat, like a bunch of trained canaries.

There was the "Global War on Terror." Didn't get legs.

Then it was the "Long War." From Rummy's office and that one also flopped.

They tried calling it the "Way Forward." As if butchering hundreds of thousands of Iraqi's, Palestinians and Afghani's was the way to go.

Now, they've come up with a new Madison Avenue concept, calling it "Isalmofascism."

This pejorative phrase seems to have taken on a life of its own, especially since 9/11/2007, when we were informed by numerous sources that Dick Cheney's office was rolling out the "Bomb Iran" campaign.

Since fascism Fascism tends to include a belief in the supremacy of one national or ethnic group, a contempt for democracy, an insistence on obedience to a powerful leader, and a strong demagogic approach, wouldn't that make the USA the REAL fascist nation?

If Al Qaeda isn't responsible for 9/11, who is?

I have been analyzing you and this web site to determine its attributes and to determine the poster's psychological disposition.

I am German and yet you thought I was a Zionist.

It is determined that you have insufficient transportation capability and are not athletic.

Why don't you guys start a charity for raising money to help the poor Palestinians online?

Whatever. Knock yourself out.

I am German and yet you thought I was a Zionist.

Its not as if someone could be BOTH at the same time, now is it? By the way, are you living in Germany, or are you posting from abroad?

It is determined that you have insufficient transportation capability and are not athletic.

What have you been smoking?

Why don't you guys start a charity for raising money to help the poor Palestinians online?

My my, we are full of suggestions, aren't we? As it is your idea, why don't you start one?

these two zionist nim-wits - Dumb and Dumber?

Perhaps WUFYS featured on the Zionist Megaphone call to arms and these loons are two of their finest hasbara merchants / digital soldiers? It would be far more fun baiting them if they had even one functioning brain between the two of them.
