Israel bars chief Palestinian negotiator from entering Jerusalem for scheduled talks
In order to try and embelish George W's miserable image and include one positive development in his 2 year terms as president of the US, an "autumn peace summit" shall forcibly take place some time this winter.
The delay is caused because the Israelis refuse to place any agenda for the negotiations... as they basically are not interested in them.
The Palestinians refuse to go unless a decent agenda is drafted.
To see how committed the Israelis are to drafting an agenda and the peace process in general, check this article out.

EXTRA: Palestinians axe meeting with Israel after checkpoint delay
Posted : Sun, 11 Nov 2007 17:06:00 GMTJerusalem - A Palestinian delegation, which included chief negotiator Ahmed Qurei, cancelled a meeting with its Israeli counterpart Sunday, saying they were delayed at a military checkpoint outside Jerusalem.
They were not just delayed! They were stopped at the checkpoint, kept there for some time and then not granted permission to enter Jerusalem in full knowledge that they were entering on an official mission.
The delegation, which, according to reports, had all the required permits to enter Israel, was travelling to meet the Israeli team to discuss details of the upcoming meeting on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict at Annapolis, Maryland.
"We regret that the meeting was postponed," said Mark Regev, a spokesman for Israel's Foreign Ministry.
"We hope that the two teams can meet together expeditiously at the earliest possible convenience," he added, saying Israel was committed to the negotiations.
Sure... Doesn't Mr. Regev sound so nice, convincing and so 'civilized' when he knows well that the delegation was deliberately stopped because Israel has absolutely no interest in peace or in Annapolis. This is the typical Zionist/Israeli game. Despicable in reality, yet 'civilized' on the surface.
Israeli officials spoke with the Palestinian delegation and said they would look into the incident.

Israel bars chief Palestinian negotiator from entering Jerusalem for scheduled talks

RAMALLAH, Nov. 11 (Xinhua) - Chief Palestinian negotiator Ahmed Qurei's office said on Sunday night that Israel barred him from reaching Jerusalem to join a scheduled meeting with his Israeli negotiators.
Israeli soldiers stationed at an army barrier east of Jerusalem stopped Qurei's convoy and prevented it to pass earlier in the night when Qurei was heading to join a joint Israeli-Palestinian negotiators meeting, Qurei's office in Ramallah said in a statement.
Notice that the meeting was in East Jerusalem which according to all agreements and resolutions belongs to the Palestinians and is currently under illegal Israeli occupation and should be returned to its rightful owners, the Palestinians.
According to the statement, the Israeli soldiers didn't give areas on why they didn't let Qurei's car to pass through the barrier.
Qurei then headed back to Ramallah and held contacts with President Mahmoud Abbas who arrived in Cairo later on Saturday, and briefed him on what happened at the Israeli army road barrier.
Sources close to Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Levni revealed that Levni herself had immediately contacted Qurei, her counterpart in the peace negotiations, and apologized for what happened.
"Foreign Minister Levni said she would deal with the issue of barring Abu Alla (Qurei) to cross through the Israeli army roadblock outside Jerusalem," the sources told the Israel Radio.
How gracious of Ms. Livni. I suppose one must show gratitude to her!
In reaction to the incident, Fahmi Za'areer, spokesman of Abbas' Fatah movement in the West Bank denounced in a statement that barring Qurei at the Israeli army roadblock from passing through indicates that Israel has no seriousness in the talks.
"There is no doubt that such a behavior proves that Israel has no good intentions towards the entire peace process and towards Annapolis summit (on Mideast peace)," said Za'areer.
