120 US war veteran suicides a week

Luckily, we have a president who is a born-again Christian of the evangelical variety. Can you imagine how much worse these numbers would be if instead of being a "kind and loving" Christian, Bush was a mean-spirited, vindictive, petty and controlling tyrant who used bullying tactics to get his way?

THE US military is experiencing a "suicide epidemic" with veterans killing themselves at the rate of 120 a week, according to an investigation by US television network CBS.
At least 6256 US veterans committed suicide in 2005 - an average of 17 a day - the network reported, with veterans overall more than twice as likely to take their own lives as the rest of the general population.

While the suicide rate among the general population was 8.9 per 100,000, the level among veterans was between 18.7 and 20.8 per 100,000.

That figure rose to 22.9 to 31.9 suicides per 100,000 among veterans aged 20 to 24 - almost four times the non-veteran average for the age group.

"Those numbers clearly show an epidemic of mental health problems,'' CBS quoted veterans' rights advocate Paul Sullivan as saying.

Lucky for the U.S., Bush puts the nation ahead of any of his personnel needs. What would these figures look like if we had a president who's only concern was to enact his war like fantasies on the world and cozying up to the Zionists and neoCONs in a desperate bid to gain their approval?

But not Bush. He relies on his "Christian" faith to guide him in taking care of business, like the concern and care he shows for our wounded and disabled veterans.

Just think of the catastrophe we'd have if we had a president who was worried more about working on his physique, rather than working on the problems of the nation.

Ponder how forlorn and desolate this country would be if instead of a president who goes out of his way to care for the wounded warriors he's responsible for, we had one that chose hand picked incompetent cronies to run the Veterans Administration whose only sense of duty lay in cozying up to a megalomaniac president.

Thankfully, we have a president who's served in the US military, going above and beyond the call of duty by protecting the beaches of Galveston, TX by day and making sure the nation's supply of Jack Daniels was drinkable by night.

Armed Service Members: Don't kill yourself. Don't take a chance on being killed or horribly disfigured in a totally phony cause. Split when you get the chance.

WASHINGTON - Soldiers strained by six years at war are deserting their posts at the highest rate since 1980, with the number of Army deserters this year showing an 80 percent increase since the United States invaded Iraq in 2003.

While the totals are still far lower than they were during the Vietnam War, when the draft was in effect, they show a steady increase over the past four years and a 42 percent jump since last year.
