In its latest bid to shore up its puppet-collaborator Mahmoud Abbas, Israel closed 92 charities in the West Bank today. The plan is to make all Palestinians in the West Bank grovel before His Excellency (Abbas) and beg him for money.

Israel also released 429 Fatah militiamen to provide more muscle for Abbas. This was the largest prisoner release in 3 years. Two weeks ago, Olmert approved the transfer of 25 Russian armored vehicles with machine guns to Abbas thugs.

The corrupt Abbas was kicked out of Gaza in June 2007. Since then, the Israelis have been systematically hunting down anyone in the West Bank who is sympathetic to Hamas, or who does not show enough loyalty to the puppet Abbas.

Israel claimed it closed the charities because they were linked to Hamas. Prominent local and religious leaders had formed the charity committees with permission of the Ministry of Religious Affairs. The committees collected money, food, and medicine, and distributed them to children and the poor, usually during religious holidays.

Now the Israelis have shut them all down, and are telling everyone to crawl to Abbas.

One of the targeted committees in the West Bank city of Nablus provided aid to 3,200 families and 3,000 orphans.

In January 2006, Hamas won a democratic victory over the corrupt and collaborationist Fatah movement. Since then, Hamas’ network of charities, schools and clinics has made the movement very popular.

Israel says it is holding about 9,000 prisoners, and has freed about 770 Fatah loyalists since July 2007.

Meanwhile in a bid to keep the entire charade going, Olmert today told the Israeli parliament "there is no alternative" to creating a Palestinian state next to Israel. He also said Israel would take part in rehabilitating Palestinian refugees, but he will not allow any Palestinians to come to Palestine.
