The Case of the Missing Skull Cap

Now, I have no idea what happened in Colorado yesterday, except what I read in the news, and the killer's religious persuasion may or may not have something to do with his motive to murder. But, I distinctly remember reading eyewitness accounts of the gunman at the first location as "a white man in his early 20s, wearing a dark jacket and skull cap and carrying a handgun."

Curiously, however, the term "skull" is inexplicably missing from the latest news report on the incident which refers only to the gunman's "dark jacket" and "cap" when mentioning eyewitness accounts.

Now, readers can assume that the killer wore just about any kind of cap - a baseball cap, a beret, or even a beanie - anything but the distinctive skull cap typically worn by orthodox Jews.

Investigators have pretty much concluded that the killer at both locations was one man - a devout Christian, who one anonymous law enforcement source has said "hated Christians."

The gunman believed to have killed four people at a megachurch and a missionary training school had been thrown out of the school about three years ago and had been sending the school hate mail, police said in court papers Monday.

The gunman was identified as Matthew Murray, 24, who was home-schooled by his family and raised in what a friend said was a deeply religious Christian household. Murray's father is a neurologist and a leading multiple-sclerosis researcher.

Now, maybe I'm reading too much into this. And I would welcome evidence of other recent news reports that still include the word "skull."

But, then I would also need to see some explanation as to why a devout Cristian would be wearing a skull cap and why no eyewitness saw him wearing a skull cap during the second rampage.

Now, I'm not saying that the media should blame Jews when they're not guilty, but they damn well shouldn't be in the business of hiding it when they are.

You mean, sort of like how the media hid the fact that Columbine shooters Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris were Jewish? (13 killed, 25 wounded)

They had 48 carbon dioxide bombs, 27 pipe bombs, and 11 1.5-gallon propane containers, plus 40-plus gallons of flammable liquid and two duffel bags containing 20-pound liquefied-petroleum gas tanks.

When a Jew commits mass murder, the media never mentions the word "Jewish."

When a non-Jew commits mass murder, the killer's race, ethnicity, religious affiliations, blood type, and underwear size are front page items.

A ranting screed was left on a Web site between shootings Sunday by the man who police say killed four people at two religious organizations.

Authorities are investigating the posting, which copies from a manifesto written by Columbine killer Eric Harris before the 1999 high school massacre in Colorado that left 15 dead, including the two teen gunmen.

Matthew Murray, 24, who police say carried out attacks at the Youth With a Mission dormitory in Arvada, a Denver suburb, and New Life Church in Colorado Springs, left behind final words that are rearranged, but otherwise largely word-for-word from Harris' writings.

The writing, first reported by a Denver TV station, was confirmed as Murray's work by investigating authorities.

He posted the message at 11:09 a.m. on a Web site for people who have left organized religion, almost 11 hours after the Arvada shooting that killed two and two hours before the Colorado Springs attack that took the lives of two teen sisters.

"You Christians brought this on yourselves," Murray writes in his 452-word harangue. "I'm coming for EVERYONE soon and I WILL be armed to the #%$ teeth and I WILL shoot to kill.

"Feel no remorse, no sense of shame, I don't care if I live or die in the shoot-out. All I want to do is kill and injure as many of you ... as I can especially Christians who are to blame for most of the problems in the world."

The first shooting happened about 12:30 a.m. at the Youth With a Mission center in Arvada, said Susan Medina, a police spokeswoman.

A man and a woman were killed and two men were wounded, Medina said. All four were staff members of the center, said Paul Filidis, a spokesman for Youth With a Mission.

Arvada Police Chief Don Wick said that the gunman spent several minutes speaking with people inside the dorm. Peter Warren, the director of Youth With a Mission Denver, said that the man asked whether he could spend the night. Several youths called on Tiffany Johnson, the center’s director of hospitality.

“The director of hospitality was called. That’s when he opened fire,” Warren said. Johnson, 26, was killed.

Warren said he didn’t know whether any of the students or staff knew the gunman. He said he didn’t know why the man came to the dormitory.

Witnesses told police that the gunman was a 20-year-old white man, he wore a dark jacket and skull cap, and he left on foot. He may have glasses or a beard.

Clearly, lots of people had ample time to see this guy. So, you can expect their description of him to be fairly accurate.

The shooter at the first location must have spent at least a few minutes talking to the people that greeted him.

Even if all the survivors were mistaken about the skull cap, they would at least be able to confirm that an image of the second shooter was indeed the same man they saw shoot and kill their colleagues.

Why did they need forensic evidence to "prove" that Murray was the first shooter? Also, why aren't they mentioning what kind of forensic evidence they used to identify him?

This whole thing is weird.

A 24 year old has a hard time sitting still on normal occasions - yet this guy waited 12 hrs and drove 65 miles to commit a second murder spree, after taking an internet break to warn them that he's coming, without bothering to tell them where he's been???

Doesn't make any sense.

Not only the question over the identity of the killer, and the presence or absence of a skull gap.

The group targeted by the killer, YWAM, is one of the largest evangelistic missionary organisations in the world, and one that is suspected of having very close ties to the CIA.

YWAM is also connected to Agape Airlines which operates out of Venice airport, where Mohammed Atta is reputed to have trained. Mark Mikarts, one of Agape's pilots, was Atta’s flight instructor.

mentions the skull cap - maybe I'm wrong. Maybe "skull cap" can refer to something other than a yarmulke. But, it seemed odd that they left the word "skull" out in the Fox News report.

Also, why didn't they describe the shooter's hair color and length or his height and weight, I mean that's standard operating procedure for eyewitness accounts.

Another thing is what is it with second shootings - V-Tech was the same - targeted shootings in one place, followed by random rampage with an internet stint in between.

BTW, interesting information, sullivan. How did you learn it?
