Lakota Nation secedes from the USA
Tohono O’Odham Nation and 19 others may follow.
The Lakota Nation has withdrawn from all treaties with the United States, national leaders said Wednesday. “We are no longer citizens of the United States of America and all those who live in the five-state area that encompasses our country are free to join us,” Indian leader Russell Means told reporters and a delegation from the Bolivian embassy at a Washington news conference.
A delegation of Lakota leaders delivered a message to the US State Department on Monday, announcing they were unilaterally withdrawing from treaties they signed with the federal government of the United States.
They also visited the Bolivian, Chilean, South African and Venezuelan embassies, and will continue on their diplomatic mission and take it overseas in the coming weeks and months, they told the news conference.
The Lakota Nation includes parts of the states of Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana and Wyoming.
The new country would issue its own passports and driver's licenses. Also, living in the new independent and sovereign nation will be tax-free, provided residents renounce their US citizenship, Russell Means said.
In addition, the Tohono O’Odham Nation and 19 other Indigenous nations declared similar proclamations at the Indigenous Peoples' Border Summit of the Americas that took place last month at the San Xavier District of Arizona. One of the principal resolutions declared at the summit was, "To create and use Indian Nations/tribal passports, identifications, and immigration documents for travel across imposed borders, specifically tribes along settler borders along Mexico and the U.S. and the U.S. and Canada, and to fully reinstate their traditional border crossing rights and abilities."
I'm still trying to find what boundaries are described in the Treaties - there are two basic outlines of the Souix nation I've found so far:
The second map includes enough proven coal reserves to run the North American continent for two hundred years.
If the U.S. recognizes to independence of Kosovo, the Russians may recognize the Lakota. Tit for Tat.
The window of opportunity for tax free citizenship won't stay open forever - it could become a real interesting play for illegal aliens and the bold.

"Money" has no value - people do.
I wrote a positive email to Russel Means a few days ago, complimenting on the historical accomplishment.
I told Mr. Means that US government will most likely deploy its forces to suppress the movement, completely disregarding the Constitution regarding the treaty being law of the land, and failure to honor mutually signed treaties equal secession in rebellion.
I hope the developed parts of the world, and especially Russia & Iran, will recognize the new sovereignty of Lakota nation, to give Federal government bonkers in comeuppance. Afghan & Iraq wars, depreciating Dollar, expansion of the American empire overseas while trying to manage domestic affairs -- too much for the increasingly bloated US government.
Give Lakota Nation its sovereign rights and leave it alone. The whites took the land from the Native Americans over the centuries of genocidal expansionism, and it's American Indians' turn to flip the table on the corrupt, racist federal government by pointing out to the treaties that were signed only to be violated to impose the years of hardship on the indigenous people.

Russell Means: The Bureau of Indian Affairs is a racist, colonial office that has total authoritarian control over Indian land, resources and people. Anyone would be insulted that their government has a department strictly to oversee an ethnic group. Let’s create a bureau of Jewish affairs, or a bureau of African affairs.
I’m standing for property rights because we have always been concerned with the stewardship of the Earth. Every society knows that property rights enhance meaningful economic development.
I’m standing for our own tribal court system because we are dominated by a system that is instituted and enforced by the USA. The primary issue is to create tribal courts separately from the rest of the government, so it can pass laws to protect investment and business. Our culture is based on values, not song and dance.
The history of aboriginals in North American, Australia and New Zealand followed a similar pattern of war. They were put on reservations with almost no recognition of individual rights, especially with regard to property. Every area was settled with planned deceit. When deceit was uncovered, Europeans resorted to violence.
In both Canada and the United States, a lot of resources intended for our benefit are siphoned off into the “Indian Industry.” This is an elite of lawyers, consultants, bureaucrats and social workers that enriches itself at the expense of the whole. Everyone in this hemisphere has benefited from the poverty of the American Indian. Every government, every church, every bureaucrat, every capitalist and every socialist. Our poverty enriches the elite.
I do not want handouts. I'm totally against anything for free – that’s casinos. Anything you don’t work for creates a dependency syndrome that only benefits those who are in control.
The dominant society believes that one day everything will end. This catastrophism is woven into their exploitation. In reality, empires wither from within, but then another empire takes it place.
I want to get rid of the colonialism -- that is, U.S. government control.
Our ancestors were free, so our future is our past. We must become a free people, and the first axiom of freedom is responsibility.
