Anna Mae Aquash: "Bury My Heart."
was that of a Great WARRIOR
-
the place where watersongs emerge is bliss.
A fire burns inside a kiss,
a cave, a canyon.
Touch the Mother.
And we know
she is our home.
Wild Embers is this.
A place to keep
the stories alive.
Revive the art
of surviving,
leaping Mayan 2012 style.
WE are the LOVE
we have been waiting for....
beyond time
.....is our elixir.

When Anna Mae Aquash was buried, women from the Pine Ridge Reservation dug her grave themselves in the March cold.

Her body was wrapped in a traditional star quilt and a medicine man presided at the funeral.

She came to Pine Ridge to join the AIM protest at Wounded Knee in 1973, and stayed to fight for native rights on this struggling reservation in southwestern Dakota.
Back in Shubenecadie, N.S., her eldest sister, Rebecca, begged her to come home. But as frightened as she was, she refused to leave. Her friends said she had started predicting her own death. In her last letter to Rebecca that fall, she wrote: "I know that sooner or later I'm going to be killed."
Roger Amiotte found the rotting body of a woman on a mild February afternoon in 1976. He had gone out to sight a new fence line for his 1,215-hectare ranch on the Pine Ridge Reservation to stop his cattle from drifting across the highway.
The body lay at the bottom of a steep ravine, 30 metres from the road, in the path he had planned for his new fence. She was curled in the snow, as though she had fallen asleep.
The woman was wearing blue jeans, sneakers and a burgundy jacket. She was lying on her side with her knees bent, near a curve in a dry creek bed. She had a turquoise bracelet on her left arm. Her hair covered her face, but she had been there long enough that her skin had turned gray and the animals had eaten her nose and right ear.
More than 100 people came in a snowfall to show their respect for the Canadian Micmac whose tombstone reads, "Woman Warrior at Wounded Knee."

On a bright note: Something Snappy, Something Happy, a song I loved to listen to on the radio - [this song was in heavy rotation at the time] - when my mother would drive me to those hateful, dreaded piano lessons every Tuesday evenings. 1972? 1973? They were both great years for music...[save for that boring piano chore]. I had no idea these guys were American Native Indians [until now]. Back then, I never saw them on TV, nor did I search for their music in the record store. This band also did a video/song on Wounded Knee, [but it was not anywhere near as popular as the video done by the Indigo Girls.]

always contributing important and inspirational facts - raising our collective awareness of the ongoing struggle for social justice -
indeed we are all connected.
you cannot understand the present without being aware of the past.
---------------------------------------
"Money" has no value - people do.
What has happened to the Native Indians is part of the cancer that permeated through the “pioneering” spirit of America’s founders and then permeates on to Her descendents of those founders.
Kit Carson
Chris Columbus
And many many others from USA history and present, who have taken so much from the Native Indians, but have hardly made restitution or given back.
Like wild mutated cells growing abnormally, eating other normal, healthy cells, until the body weakens and dies.
The USA and Canada’s legacy of cancer continues.
The sickened thought processes are still “alive” today when you look at how the USA has tormented other countries with its cancerous “pioneering” foreign policies.
Yes the past is a mirror of today and tomorrow. The past has something to teach us. It will always be viable – and the past has actually become today. And today will become tomorrow.
Unless we can stop it with a miracle.

4 Minute Movie Trailer:
So all this talk about the federal reserve - its funny money - what Kats said about how they are always a step or two above and ahead of us, regardless of how stupid they -those ziostanists - really are.....why the hell are we working?
What are we working for? All this funny money in our pockets enslaving us with its illusion.
Rachel Corrie said something so amazing in one of her very lengthy emails to her mother, shortly before she was murdered.
She said: "We all need to stop everything we are doing and do something about Gaza/Palestine."
Can you imagine??? Let's all stop working!
If we all stopped what we are doing and pay attention to the bigger things we could lance the cancer out of our lives.
The new revolution doesn't have to be so complicated.
It's interesting to know that Rachel and Anna were both born under the sign of Aries.
The sign of the god of WAR, of warriors/soldiers.
The sign of courage, bravery, and valor.
The sign of spring.
The sign of new beginnings.
"For what?"
"To OWN the Earth!!"
One of these days people will figure out that Native or Aboriginal North Americans aren't Hindus =P even AiM
..it seems everybody knew what happened to Anne Mae, but were slow and reluctant to come forward.
So terrible to such a brave, good and loving soul.
..this shows how absolultely RACiST the authorities are, she died BEFORE i WAS BORN. Now that's a high priority! justice? just_ice?
..i don't know if you followed the Pickton trial, but it's a classic example of how the 'authorities' don't even bother investigating crimes againt humanity; when they haven't enough sheckels, reputation or skin tone (sic). The Picktons (only one of which is a lifer now, for 6 murders out of 33 people's DNA remnants found) ran a PIG FARM, they MADE SAUSAGE.
BRB, gotta ruelph or meditate.. OM...
..it's kind of like having Clifford Olson living down the road from you. Shait, this brazen basterd extorted the police for money, in order to find the corpses!!
On a lighter note, i had no idea that Redbone was an entirely native band, cool! adding it to my collection :)
Thank You!
Oh yes. I have heard of them both.
I can't begin to tell you how Olsen sickens me to the marrow.
I recall the chilling account of how he lured a 14 year old boy, by promising him a construction job. And Olsen would pay him under the table.
I can't put in this comment box what Olsen did to that boy.
The creep is married. Yes, he extorted money from police authorities to give to his disgusting wife.
Just goes to show you that sociopaths are very clever. They marry because marriage elevates their social status and they belong , so to speak.
I didn't follow the Picton trial but I did follow the Paul Bernardo trial. Homolka should have been burned alive - she was more deadly, more cruel than Bernardo was, instead, she is free.
She used that friggin' "battered wives syndrome".
Canada's criminal laws are pathetic.
how our society produces people like those, let alone frees them to commit more heinous crimes!
That homolka should have never been released. she did look alot like a beaten cornered animal; it's in the eyes, facial expressions and that creepy aura..
Canada's legal system is pathetic, on many levels.. following big brother's footsteps in many ways. The puppet PM harper only represents the oil province of Alberta, and pretty much can't see any sh*t outside GW's sphinx. He's out ASAP.
Karla Homolka was NOT a bruised and battered little thing. She was as sadistic and cruel and her husband. She put on pink and white dresses and she lured girls close to her husband [he would be inside the car] by asking for directions.
Who is going to suspect a woman in a pink dress?
No. She knew what she was doing and she wanted to help Bernardo do those crimes.
Holmoka even stole chemicals from the vet clinic she worked at so he could easily and quickly put those girls out and shove them down in the back seat of the car.
She KNEW what she was doing and she WANTED to do it.
========
As for Picton:
The reason he got away with killing so many women is because most of them were prostitutes - and you are right: the police don't take those murders seriously.
But this is a HUGE mistake.
Every criminalogist will tell you now that serial rapists always graduate from torturing/ murdering animals - to prostitutes - then on to the more challenging victims, your everyday, average citizen.
And yes, hundreds of Native American women are murdered [their children, too] and their cases are hardly treated equally compared to American whites.
I do agree with you about that.
Also, what I wanted to add, is while Paul Bernardo was dangerous, I consider his wife Homolka much more dangerous. Without her, Bernardo might not have been successful in creating a sex/slave torture pit in their house.
I consider Hillary Clinton to be very dangerous. If she is president, those who voted for her will rue the day. But the average population don't see her as a menace. They just see her as a "female" who might make the feminist movement's day....and that is all.
SCARY.
Very scary that we are expected to vote for ONE 'individual' and ALL THEiR LiES. This follow the leader mentality is part of the problem.
It's disturbing to know that these cowardly predators will attack the weakest or the most oppressed peoples, it's almost as if 'THE ZV MADE ME DO IT'.
As for that demon_homolka, i only said what it LOOKED like, but_it_is what_it_is. I would definately be more scared of her than him, based only on LOOK, let alone FACT.
There were 33 women's DNA found at the pict_pig farm, illie was convicted for 6. He had family and friends around him, there were witnesses.. but no action.
The pig farm was a hangout for bikers, note that all the DNA found was from women, and that SOMEbody controls the drugs and prostitution (etc!)
Just look at the chain-of-command before and after 'biker', and you will know that MANY PEOPLE should be NEVER LET OUT OF JAiL for this.

Including COPS, who were also known to frequent the parties.
