Germany vs. the CIA
An epic battle between a REAL government and a SECRET one.
A court in Germany has ordered the arrest of 13 people suspected of being involved in the abduction of a German national who says he was kidnapped and tortured by the CIA, state prosecutors said on Wednesday.Prosecutors in Munich said based on their findings, "the particulars of the suspects listed in the arrest warrants suggest these could be cover identities of CIA agents."
They said that a district court in Munich had issued warrants for the arrest of the 13 on suspicion of abducting, falsely imprisoning and causing grievous bodily harm to Khaled el-Masri, a German of Lebanese descent.
Prosecutors did not give the nationalities of the suspects, although according to German media reports, most of them are resident in the United States.
Masri was arrested in Macedonia at the end of 2003 and says he was handed over to the CIA, who flew him to Afghanistan and wrongly held him until his release in late May 2004.
Masri's lawyer, Manfred Gnjidic, said the issuing of the arrest warrants was the first sign that German authorities were now prepared to back his client against the CIA.
"These are massive crimes that have been committed against Khaled el-Masri," he told Reuters. "German authorities are following up these crimes against a German subject and are looking to call those responsible to account."
Good luck with that. These guys play by their own rules.
Masri's case has focused media scrutiny in Europe about secret transfers of terrorism suspects by U.S. intelligence agencies, known as renditions. These have caused tensions both within Germany and between Berlin and Washington.
German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier has been under pressure to explain his role in the detention of a German-born Turk in Guantanamo Bay prison camp while he served as chief of staff to former chancellor Gerhard Schroeder.
The man, Murat Kurnaz, was released last summer without charge after being held nearly five years. Steinmeier has been accused of trying to hinder his release.
KIDNAPPING TEAM
German state television NDR said the 13 suspects in the Masri case were all employed by the CIA but that U.S. authorities had so far refused to assist German investigators.
German arrest warrants are not valid in the United States.
A government spokeswoman said it was up to Munich prosecutors to push the investigation forward, and noted that bilateral agreements between the United States and Germany did not oblige either side to extradite their own citizens.
Munich prosecutors said the suspects had been identified on the basis of a list compiled with the aid of Spanish authorities. The list purported to detail those who were on board the plane Masri said took him to Afghanistan.
"(The suspects) are people who in part were part of the plane's crew, and in part, those who were part of the so-called rendition team -- that is, the kidnapping team," state prosecutor August Stern told Reuters Television.
Additional information about the identities of the suspects was provided by prosecutors in Milan and Council of Europe investigator Dick Marty, prosecutors added.
Further investigations would concentrate on establishing the real identities of the suspects, prosecutors added.
NDR said the 13 suspects listed in the Munich arrest warrant were CIA employees. It published 13 names it said were on the warrant, noting they were largely cover names and that a number appeared on the document with multiple spellings.
NDR added that it also knew some of their real names.
Most of the suspects live in North Carolina, NDR said.
What is it with North Carolina?
Not only do they host a personal airline service for the CIA, but they are home to Zapata Engineering, a company with israeli ties who are implicated in the murder of US troops in Iraq.
Even the NC Attorney General appears to be hiding something about the state's torture taxi, as evidenced by his denial of a request by 22 state lawmakers for an investigation into its dealings.
Something is very wrong down south, in North Carolina, and something tells me israelis are intimately involved.
The wanted Americans are likely part of special mission units that were personally set up by Rumsfeld. They grabbed victims and handed them over to the CIA. They also helped Rumsfeld stay personally involved in the massive heroin traffic out of Afghanistan, plus covert arms shipments for fun and profit. These would-be James Bonds had lavish expense accounts, lived in swank hotels, ate at fine European restaurants, and charged everything on credit cards. Usually they lounged at resorts in Majorca and the Italian Riviera. Some were retirees from U.S. and Israeli Special Forces. Some were U.S. military reserve personnel that had personal connections with Rumsfeld. All worked with key foreign nationals, who were also on the Rumsfeld payroll. The teams (which included Israelis) reported directly to U.S. Special Forces Command in Tampa, and were funded through Ft. Bragg in North Carolina, where the Israeli military gives training in counter-insurgency. Rumsfeld mentioned his personal operatives more than once in the context of “black reconnaissance,” which is Pentagon-speak for covert operations. It is not CIA-speak. When Rumsfeld departed, some of these twits stayed in Europe and continued their involvement in the drug / arms trade, plus other shady activities hooked into global Israeli crime syndicates. If Germany wants them, it means these clowns have probably overstayed their welcome, and it’s time to shut down the German branches of their private networks. The new Secretary of Offense Robert Gates has his own network, and is re-aligning the Pentagon’s relationship with the CIA. He’s probably happy to dump these Rumsfeld rogues.
Regarding North Carolina, yes QRS, the state has long had deep ties with Israel. After all, Jews tend to dominate the tobacco industry. In 1972, corporations in NC established the Binational Science Foundation to promote research cooperation between American and Israeli scientists. In 1994 Governor Jim Hunt established a task force to increase trade between NC and Israel. In 1996, the NC state government established the North Carolina / Israel Partnership (uncep.org) to manage these exchanges, using tax dollars. The Partnership has offices in Haifa and Tel Aviv. It coordinates bi-national foundations that donate to NC Universities such as Duke and Wake Forest.
Israel is NC’s chief foreign trading partner. When companies like Microsoft, IBM, and Intel built those factories in Israel, they arranged their deals through North Carolina. When the textile plants closed in NC, many moved to Israel rather than China. NC has five major Jewish political groups (or “federations”).
In 1984, AIPAC almost got rid of NC Senator Jesse Helms by supporting Governor Jim Hunt for Senate. Helms got the message, did an about-face, and became a champion of Israel. In October 2004, the Palestine Solidarity Movement decided to hold its National Conference at Duke University. Over 41,000 Jews organized a campaign to stop it, but Duke University President Broadhead allowed it, since a direct ban would have been too obvious. Brodhead says any call for Duke university to divest from Israel is immoral and illegal. He came from Yale, which has more Jewish students than any university except Columbia and Penn State. Duke’s medical school crawls with Jews. Duje's Freeman Center for Jewish Life is a regular host of Alan Dershowitz.
North Carolina has more “Israel fests” than Florida does. Its sixteen universities sponsor more Israeli student exchange programs that any other university system does, much of it through the “Carolina Center for Jewish Studies” at UNC Asheville. The NC state museum of art has routine lectures in Jewish studies. This Israeli background helps explain why NC newspapers often scoop others concerning news from Israel.
Of course, Jewish control has generated some resentment among NC Gentiles. The mildly anti-Zionist indymedia.org is out of Chapel Hill. Other than that, however, North Carolina is pretty much ZOT (Zionist Occupied Territory).
