"israel" Beckons to Paul and Ringo

http://music.msn.com/music/article.aspx?news=295378&gt1=7702

More than 40 years after it barred the iconic British band from playing there, Israel said it wants the surviving members of the Beatles to participate in a concert celebrating the country's 60th birthday.

But the Israeli embassy in London denied a report that the Jewish state had apologized for its original refusal to let the Beatles perform in the country. The band had been booked to appear in 1965, but the government refused to grant the necessary permits on the ground that its music might corrupt the country's morals.

"Israel missed a chance to learn from the most influential musicians of the decade, and the Beatles missed an opportunity to reach out to one of the most passionate audiences in the world," Israeli ambassador Ron Prosor said in a letter addressed to Sir Paul McCartney. "On our 60th anniversary, we would like to take the opportunity to offer you a second chance to play in Israel."

The embassy said a letter was presented by Prosor to Jerry Goldman, CEO of the Beatles Story in the north England city of Liverpool. It was also sent to Sir Paul McCartney and Richard Starkey, better known as Ringo Starr.

...the Israeli Government refused the Beatles the right to play in Israel. After all, how can you possibly corrupt the morals of a nation that has none?

And yes, I am being ironic, before anyone jumps to the wrong conclusions!

Here's hoping McCartney and Company see sense and refuse the invitation. It would be even nicer if they refused it and said why they were doing so.

This is just another pathetic attempt by Israel to showcase what it truly is.

Unfortunately for Israel, it's nothing but a smelly turd and no matter how much elbow grease they use or how long they polish that road apple, at the end of the day, it's still a big, stinking pile of shit.

But, i bet Paul accepts. He's fairly fond of having gobs of money on hand.
The poor limey is only worth around 1.2 BILLION dollars, so he's in need of a few more shekels.

The song by the Beatles, "I, Me, Mine" was written to describe Paul's greed.

He never realized he was being made fun of till AFTER the song was out and about.

Wouldn't it be cool if Paul and Ringo accepted on the terms that they get to play in the Israeli Occupied section of Hebron?

Or in the Israeli made hell-hole that they made in Gaza?

But, don't hold your breath.

Play for everyone, for fucksakes!

Oh, that wall's comin' down bay_bee!!
Pink Floyd, John Couger, and many more!!

Looks like artists are wary to go to the original rogue colony, supremite_mafia=terror-apartheid 'state' that continues the genocidal 60 year Naqba.

whom one of their thugs conveniently assassinated for being too independent to corrupt and for being too passionate about peace and about working peoples' right to a decent life.

There are a few people whose murders if figured out would make it very clear for the world who the real criminals are - John Lennon is one of them.

Israel might be led by a bunch of deranged, blood thirsty, power-mad psychos, but they're a PR savvy bunch of deranged, blood thirsty, power-mad psychos.

Bet this is already a done deal. Otherwise, it wouldn't be announced.

Maybe they could open their set with "Helter-Skelter" and dedicate that song to Ehdiot Olmert.

Without George and John, the two who had the most heart and soul, as I feel their intentions, were indeed, to find peace and harmony in the world, for the world; NO....there could never be a "beatles" reunion in "israel".

And Paul and Ringo would be wise - extremely authentic and decent - NOT to play in "israel", lest they suffer serious repercussions to their reputations in the future.

I can understand why John was cruel Cynthia, but I am baffled in what he saw in Yoko. Can't imagine what that woman did to impress him.

"God is a concept by which we measure our pain."

* * *

"I was the dreamweaver, but now I'm reborn.

I was the walrus, but now I'm John.

And so dear friends, you just have to carry on.

The dream is over."

I'd like to hear what you guys think John meant by his first statement on God.

But, I see this song as a rejection of any men (living or dead) himself included, as divine.

Maybe he considers God the Arbiter of Ultimate Justice - to Whom we turn to restore balance, to alleviate our pain.

I like this song.

Now's your chance to redeem yourself.
Accept the invitation and sing "Give Palestine back to the Palestinians" to the tune of "Give Ireland Back to the Irish"!

Or is Paul really dead?

phildee3 | Thu, 2008-01-31 01:16

Paul’s latest video is just dreadful.

If you dare to watch it – ICK! But I strongly suggest that you don’t. I wouldn’t dream of embedding it at WUFYS – it is not worthy. I would never put up a music video that I don’t like.

I forgot about Paul singing for the Irish. [He is half Irish, so that wasn’t hard for him to do].

Yeah.... that would be a most noble action if he would sing "Give Palestine back to the Palestinians".

His song “freedom”, about 9/11, really turned me off. I was so repulsed. I knew he was cashing in and making extra news for himself.

If he and Ringo do turn down the invitation, they certainly won’t say it’s because of the occupation . OH! If only they would!

Take the road less traveled, boys!

O Captain,! My Captain!

Carpe Diem!

As soon as your born they make you feel small,
By giving you no time instead of it all,
Till the pain is so big you feel nothing at all,

A working class hero is something to be,
A working class hero is something to be.

They hurt you at home and they hit you at school,
They hate you if you're clever and they despise a fool,
Till you're so fucking crazy you can't follow their rules,

A working class hero is something to be,
A working class hero is something to be.

When they've tortured and scared you for twenty odd years,
Then they expect you to pick a career,
When you can't really function you're so full of fear,

A working class hero is something to be,
A working class hero is something to be.

Keep you doped with religion and sex and TV,
And you think you're so clever and classless and free,
But you're still fucking peasents as far as I can see,

A working class hero is something to be,
A working class hero is something to be.

There's room at the top they are telling you still,
But first you must learn how to smile as you kill,
If you want to be like the folks on the hill,

A working class hero is something to be.
A working class hero is something to be.
If you want to be a hero well just follow me,
If you want to be a hero well just follow me.

Written and recorded after leaving the Beatles.

QRS......

John sounds ambiguous about God. John seems to put himself before God.

At the end of the song he says he just believes in himself. He says he believes in his wife. Well that is okay! These are the tangibles he knows and understands. At the end of the day, maybe that is all that should matter, depending on human limitations - and we are VERY limited in our scope of the world and God.

Besides, we all have a bit of the God/Source in us.

Whether we know it or not, whether we like or not...we depend on God for our existence, not the other way around - like some people think.

So he says "God is a concept by which we measure our pain".

That's an interesting line. I cannot help but notice the ambiguity in it. I get the impression that John was keeping God at a distance - a peculiar and curious distance.

Yes it is a very good song.

What is important is John Lennon abhorred people worshipping people. And he was right to do so.

Anyway, that's how I interpret the first line.

To Greg:

Wow Greg...I am going to have to give a listen to "working class hero"...those lyrics are right on target about what we all talk about here!

AMAZING.

Thanks for putting the up lyrics.
