The Leader of the Islamic Revolution
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says Muslim nations can neutralize Western threats through solidarity.
"Washington seeks to intimidate the Muslim nations by making veiled and unveiled threats," said Ayatollah Khamenei in a Wednesday meeting with visiting Senegalese President Abdoulaye Wade.
The Leader said that the invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan has given rise to anti-US sentiments in the world.
"Washington has learned the lesson that military victory is in no way real triumph and Americans are now sinking deeper in the quagmire they have created in the region," he added.
Ayatollah Khamenei said it is the responsibility of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) to defend the rights of the Palestinian nation and expressed hope that the organization would not fail to fulfill its duty.
"Muslim nations must realize that their success does not lie in 'dependency on superpowers'. Once they learn to overcome this false belief they will be able to make many great achievements," Ayatollah Khamenei concluded.

Israeli aircraft has struck the empty office of Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh and nearby premises of his Interior Ministry in Gaza.
Hamas security officials said missiles fired on Wednesday from helicopters hit the buildings, sited in downtown residential neighborhoods, wounding around 30 local residents and two Hamas security guards patrolling on the street.
Palestinian health officials said a 6-month-old baby was killed by shrapnel from the attack.
The Israeli military had no immediate comment.
The airstrike came hours after rocket attacks killed an Israeli student in the southern border town of Sderot.
'US Army out of balance and consumed'

The US army Chief of staff General George Casey says war in Afghanistan and Iraq has left the troops 'out of balance' and 'consumed'.
"We are unable to do the things we know we need to do to properly sustain our all-volunteer force and restore our flexibility for an uncertain future," said Gen. Casey who was testifying before the Senate Armed Services Committee.
Casey said the army's goal was to reduce 15-month deployments to 12 months by midsummer if David Petraeus, the top US commander in Iraq, was able to execute the plan.
During the Senate panel, Peter Geren, the secretary of the Army called on senators to support the $141 billion requested by the Army, saying it would "ensure that our soldiers have what they need when they need it."
Geren described American troops as an army out of balance saying they were consuming their readiness as fast as they had built it.
The 5-year-old war has caused growing concerns among Americans as it has thus far killed nearly 4,000 US troops and more than 80,000 Iraqis.
From the article in the comment above:
This is absolute bullshit. The controlled media constantly plays down the true death toll. The most reliable figures come from the respected British polling firm ORB, which as of September last year puts the Iraqi death toll at over 1,000,000.
