University cancels speech by David Irving citing "Security Concerns"

UCC cancels debate involving David Irving
An appearance by the controversial historian, David Irving, at a debate in University College Cork next week has been cancelled.
Two years ago, Mr Irving was convicted in Austria of saying that the Holocaust did not happen, which is a criminal offence in that country.
UCC said it had cancelled the debate on free speech that was due to have been held on Monday because of security concerns.
Apparently they had received credible threats from "violent elements". I can't help but wonder who made the threats that gave rise to the "security concerns" and why they are not being hunted down and prosecuted for issuing threats. I'd hazard a guess that the threats had nothing to do with security and far more to do with funding for research.
Last night outside the main entrance to RTÉ's campus in Donnybrook in Dublin, some 20 people protested against Mr Irving's appearance on the Late Late Show.
Only 20? Some protest that was! Notice that there is no mention of who the protesters were or who they represented.

All that "inward investment" that has made Ireland one of Europe's wealthiest, most superficial and greediest countries.
