German Chancellor Angela Merkel has underlined her country's support for the Israeli regime on the eve of her three-day trip to Palestine.
In her weekly video message broadcast, Merkel said she plans to stress Germany's deep commitment to defending the Israeli regime when she addresses the Knesset on Tuesday.
"A threat facing Israel is also a threat to us," she stated.
Experts say that the visit is aimed at bolstering ties and will not focus on the Palestinian issue as Germany is making an effort to play a more important role in the so-called Mideast peace process.
