Jewish group seeks to purge YouTube of anti-Semitic videos

Hamburg - Germany's national Jewish body said Thursday it has filed suit against YouTube and its parent company Google, demanding a court order for the site to be permanently purged of anti-Semitic videos.
Stephan Kramer, secretary general of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, said in Hamburg, "we charge Google with aiding and abetting racial hatred and discrimination on its YouTube video- platform subsidiary.
"We applied this week for an injunction from a court in Hamburg."
He said one example was a video clip that showed a late president of the Central Council, Paul Spiegel, being burned alive. He charged that it had been available for download for months on end.
YouTube allows users to flag videos as inappropriate, leading to a review by YouTube editors who can delete videos that breach the platform's terms of use.
So let them do it. We'll resort to other and better means. The Jews will not win this time.

A different Haaretz article says Germany's Central Council of Jews will file a criminal complaint against YouTube for having videos that promote racial hatred. "I expect the prosecutor's office, other relevant authorities and, if necessary, the German government to take action against this," said the council's vice president, Salomon Korn.
In still another Haaretz article, German Jews have condemned YouTube for having videos that incite racial hatred.
The videos include clips of a 1940 propaganda film "Jud Suess," plus two music videos of outlawed German far-right rock band Landser, which show footage of World War II German military operations.
Jewish Social Democrat (SPD) parliamentarian Dieter Wiefelspuetz said it is "scandalous" that the videos are available on YouTube.
German youth protection body Jugendschutz.net has complained to Google Germany more than 100 times, and asked Google, which bought YouTube last year, to remove all clips that Jews find offensive.
("Offensive" videos include those that show the truth about Palestine, or about the USS Liberty, etc etc.)

I don't think this group is gonna "shut down' youtube much more than it's already censored where anti-Zionist & truth videos are removed frequently. Yet a ton still manage to slip by the gollie & I think will continue to.

The censorship has nothing to do with "anti-Semitism" of course... I had a good friend during the Israel/Lebanon war of 2006 who posted footage of the situation on the ground showing the realities of what was happening on the ground verses the fairy tales Israeli media was talking about. He had shots of the famous Mercava tanks grave yard and the defeated Israeli soldiers and much footage of the sort, but this is precisely what Youtube didn't want to show and my friend barely survived a few days before being totally banned. Youtube siimply doesn't want such material reaching the American people. I guess that youtube also takes its orders from Zion...
Did your friend try Live Leak? I think it is less likely to censor, but I'd be real interested to see that footage.
I don't know if he did... and I've now lost touch with him.. and many things have changed on the net since the 2006 war. I'd better refresh my old connections since these coming few month promise to be interesting...
