Sometimes movies zero in on a simple truth - FLATLINERS is one that comes to mind.

Nelson [Kiefer Sutherland], induces a near-death state and takes in a tiny glimpse of the other side. In his youth he bullied a boy to his death. Now Nelson – upon returning to life - finds himself paying for his past ghastly deed by experiencing the exact, total terror of his victim and so much more.

It doesn’t matter that Nelson paid his dues in a boys’ detention center, or even said he was sorry. Besides, we all know how “sorry” we really are… or are not. Just like the homeless lady who – out of the blue, as he is walking by - [before Nelson begins his journey of severe retribution] gazing at Nelson and pointedly says:

“Because in the end, we all know what we have done.”

The same happens to the characters of William Baldwin and Kevin Bacon.

In the other world, justice is not complicated at all – unlike here.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find any good FLATLINER scenes with Sutherland's character. This was the only one.

Very interesting. Makes you wonder if the Lord Almighty will have any mercy on these satanic beasts like michael chertoff, cheney, podhortez, silverstein, olmert, livni, barak, etc.

To get the same experience as Kevin Bacon. Just become a substitute teacher. I experienced that on a daily basis. Hey, maybe I was working off bad karma.

and He moves in mysterious ways.

So will God have mercy on chertoff, livni, pod-whore-itz, wolfie, zackheim, sharon, warburgs, silverstein, and so on, and so on, and so on?

Maybe He will send them all down as postal workers.

Well no, people don't have to go as far as a near death experience to feel remorse or suffer some kind of hell.

But people who do experience the afterlife [almost always upon death] and come back, their thinking changes drastically. It's a must. They have no choice but to live differently from the way they lived before.

BTW, I have cousins and friends who are teachers. My one friend has had some dreadful experiences teaching high school. But substitute teachers usually have it really bad.

On a SOUR note:

I am quite annoyed that the "Rhiannon Rocks" tag got removed!

Thanks for that clip.  I've got to see that "Bedazzled" movie again.

The movie is a classic!

The devil [Peter Cook] is continually sabotaging the efforts of Stanley [Dudley Moore] to win the heart of a girl he’s crazy about. And yet the devil has promised Stanley he will help him in exchange for his soul. I haven’t seen the remake of Bedazzled, and I don’t think I want to. Most remakes do not capture the chemistry of the original.

 I LOVE the new tag!
