Whenever something receives the whole-hearted support of most governments in the world, then it is immediately suspect and should be questioned. 

Whenever the solution to an earth-threatening catastrophe in the making is yet more taxation, then question it.

Whenever governments tell you that you'll have to make do with less to 'save the planet', then you would be wise not to trust it.
