12:05  NEWS:  Govt unveils new emergency centre in Dublinview list

The Government has formally unveiled its new national emergency centre in Dublin.

The facility will automatically come into use in the event of a national crisis such as a tsunami or outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease.

Booklets explaining how it works will be distributed to households around the country in the coming weeks.

 On the Radio, a government spokesmen also mentioned in the case of a nuclear disaster and that this new entity is similar to Fema in the States or COBRa in the UK.

Yes, we do, although these days we don't refer to ourselves as 'Eire', except maybe on postage stamps ;)
