During a visit to Mexico City, US defense secretary Robert Gates said April 29 that the arrival of the USS Abraham Lincoln in the Gulf should be seen as a reminder of US military power in the region. He flatly denied the US was preparing the ground for military strikes against Iran. But as DEBKAfile and DEBKA-Net-Weekly have reported in the last ten days, the carrier’s arrival and additional US military steps have underscored the hardening of US rhetoric against Iran.
DEBKAfile: So far, the Tehran government is not backing off and does not appear deterred by Washington’s warnings or its military movements.
Friday, April 25, Adm. Michael Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told reporters in Washington that the Pentagon is planning for “potential military courses of action” against Iran. He spoke of rising concern about the Tehran government’s “increasingly lethal and malign influence” in Iraq.

This just in: The Canadian Union of Postal Workers "has no plans to block mail to and from Israel as of yet." That's a direct quote (with my emphasis added) from the union's national president. The line appears in a letter sent to the National Post today in response to my column about CUPW's loopy foreign-policy pronouncements. The letter, which will appear in tomorrow's print edition of the National Post appears in whole below.
p.s. In regard to Mr. Lemelin's line "Why does [Kay] direct questions about the internal workings of CUPW to everyone except the union itself?" I should say that I did call CUPW's media-inquiries line prior to the publication of my article. I left a message and never got a call-back.

Defense Ministry not worried by FBI Cisco probe
Earlier this year, reports in trade journals claimed that the FBI was investigating reports that counterfeit Cisco equipment had been installed in networks at US government agencies and in the military and that this equipment may contain a "back door" which allows access to those networks. In late February, reports stated that the US Department of Justice had seized nearly $80 million worth of counterfeit Cisco equipment.
Concerns were raised recently that the problem could be prevalent in Israel as well, since the Ministry of Defense uses Cisco equipment extensively in various communications projects. The ministry told "Globes", "The equipment that the ministry buys from Cisco is original equipment of the company, and there is no connection to the counterfeit equipment discovered in security breaches."
Six weeks ago, Cisco executive VP Randy Pond, the number two man in the company, visited Israel. The visit was described as routine, and there were also reports that he would met defense officials, as the Ministry of Defense and the defense establishment are important Cisco customers in Israel.

Former Senator Gary Hart seems to be having difficulties remembering his last lie because he fouled up again in his latest confrontation with We Are Change by reversing his assertion that he never used the term "new world order," contradicting his previous falsehood, but still seemed fearful of discussing exactly what the term meant.
In the clip, Luke Rudkowski quotes Hart's response to 9/11 at a September 12th Council on Foreign Relations in which he called for the disaster to be used to "make lemonade out of lemons" and create a "new world order".
Hart lies by claiming the term was only used to highlight right-wing hostility to the phrase "new world order" which is completely false as you will see later and he also contradicts his previous response to the question in which he claimed to have never used the phrase "new world order" in his life.

The Hebron Orphanage for girls is run by the Charitable Islamic Society,(I.C.S) and houses 110 children.
The ICS is accused by Israel of funding the Hamas movement under the table, and in recent years, the ICS has been raided several times by the Israeli Army who seized computers and paper work from their offices. Now the Israeli government wants to take property owned by the ICS and has issued a court order to this effect.
Bassim the director of the Hebron orphanage for girls says that the Israeli officials came and inspected a sewing work shop in the basement, a project set up to give local women whose husbands are in gaol a means of earning a living.The official forbade any one from working in the room he photographed and made an inventory of all sewing machines and related equipment in the basement.He forbade Bassim from moving the workshop elsewhere threatening him with a prison sentence of five years were he to do so, he then said that the army would come and remove the equipment after the 26th of April 2008.

The hedge fund giant that owns a controlling stake in Chrysler is in negotiations to buy the controversial security firm Blackwater USA, which has millions of dollars in U.S. government contracts in Iraq, according to sources familiar with the talks.
Cerberus Capital Management could invest $200 million for a stake in Blackwater, said a source close to the negotiations. Other sources said auditors from Cerberus had been examining Blackwater's books since the beginning of the year.
A source close to the negotiations says there is no deal yet, but there might be one in the future and that negotiations about a possible investment into Blackwater are ongoing.
