Ehud Olmert Under Investigation Again

Olmert has been investigated for corruption several times. As Finance Minister in 2005, he intervened in the Israeli government's sale of its controlling interest in Bank Leumi to help secure the deal at a discount price for two of his Zionist buddies: Frank Lowy, who leased the WTC complex with Larry Silverstein just prior to 9/11, and Jewish-American billionaire and board member of AIPAC, Daniel Abraham.

Sources: New evidence against PM is substantive

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert was questioned on Friday by police investigators in a case that sources described as "very serious." The court has slapped a gag order on the case, preventing the publication of any of the details and suspicions against the prime minister, who is facing the fifth police investigation in the past two years.

Olmert was questioned on Friday in Jerusalem for a bit more than an hour. This was a relatively short interview that was meant mostly to hear his initial response to the suspicions against him and to secure his version of the story and thus preventing him from diverting from it in the future.

At the end of the interview the Prime Minister's Bureau issued a statement to the press with Olmert's version about the suspicions against him, but the police quickly issued its announcement of the court's gag order.

According to sources close to the investigation the evidence against the prime minister is serious and substantive.

"The initial evidence collected has been sufficiently sound, and there is real basis for the suspicions against Olmert," a police source said.
