No Hope for America: Barack Obama pledges allegiance to Israel

Here we go again. Don't lose your lunch.

Obama: I pledge allegiance to Israel

Democratic White House contender Barack Obama says the US would be fully committed to Israel's security if he is elected president.

"America's commitment to Israel's security is unshakable," the 46-year-old presidential hopeful said Thursday during a brief speech at a celebration to mark the 60th anniversary of Israel.

"I am absolutely convinced that our friendship between the two nations is unbreakable, the Illinois senator added.

Despite his lead in delegates, states won and the popular vote, Obama is still struggling to win the donnybrook Democratic race against rival Senator Hillary Clinton.

Pundits believe Obama made his speech in the hope of gaining the support of Jewish Americans who can significantly contribute to him clinching the party's nomination.

"I pledge to you that I will do whatever I can in whatever capacity to not only ensure Israel's security, but also to ensure that the people of Israel may thrive and prosper and build on the enormous promise that was made 60 years ago," Senator Obama continued.

Obama's remarks came after presidential candidate Hillary Clinton took her Zionism-support campaign to a new level by threatening Iran with 'total obliteration' in the case of an attack on Israel.

___________

Obama: We will stand with Israel for 600 years

By Leonard Doyle, The Independent (U.K. newspaper)

In his first interview since the North Carolina and Indiana primaries, the presumptive Democratic nominee Obama says that the most important thing he could achieve as president would be to deal with Iraq and the threat of al Qai'da in Afghanistan while improving "our influence around the world."

On Israel's 60th anniversary his target audience were America's Jewish voters, some of whom have been a bit cool to him, in comparison to Hillary or McCain. It was no surprise then to hear Obama tell CNN's Wolf Blitzer that when he is president  America will stay glued to Israel, "not just for 60 years but for 600 years."

Here's the money quote: "what I love about Israel is that it is a robust democracy, and that they are committed to principles like rule of law and civil rights and civil liberties."

Perhaps as president Obama will encourage Israel to put those much admired principles into practice more often when it comes to the Palestinians. No one doubts that Obama's sympathies are with Israel, but lingering in the back of some voters minds are the ravings of Rev Jeremiah Wright.

Many Jewish voters have also been blitzed with viral emails questioning everything from Obama's religion to his commitment to Israel. For 15 months and more he's been fighting allegations - that he is a Muslim, that he took his oath of office on a Koran etc... Hillary didn't help matters much when she volunteered that he's not a Muslim, "as far as I know."

Obama claimed that he is ready for a much tougher phase of the race: a match up against John McCain who said last month, "It's very clear who Hamas wants to be the next president."

World weary from the sniping Obama responded today saying, "I think it's disappointing because John McCain always says, 'Well, I'm not going to run that kind of politics,' and then to engage in that kind of smear I think is unfortunate, particularly since my policy on Hamas has been no different than his,"

He added, "And so for him to toss out comments like that, I think, is an example of him losing his bearings as he pursues this nomination."

Obama suggested that the United States' influence around the world has diminished under George Bush. "The world wants to see the United States lead. They've been disappointed and disillusioned over the last seven, eight years," he said. "I think there is still a sense everywhere I go that if the United States regains its sense of who it is and our values and our ideals, that we will continue to set the tone for a more peaceful and prosperous world." [How naive of this man, in light of his solidarity with State of Israel.]

Obama also thinks the way the war in Iraq has been handled has kept the United States from focusing on key issues like energy policy, global warming and the economy. "Americans want to succeed," he said, "but we're going to have to make some investments and ensure that the dynamism and the innovation of the American people is released."

"It's very hard for us to do that when we're spending close to $200 billion a year in other countries, rebuilding those countries instead of focusing on making ourselves strong."

Obama predicted that he and Hillary Clinton would probably split the remaining contests and said Clinton would win the upcoming primary in West Virginia by a "big margin".

"Senator Clinton has shown herself to be an extraordinary candidate. She's tireless, she's smart, she's capable, and so obviously she'd be on anybody's short list to be a potential vice presidential candidate," he said. "But it would be presumptuous of me at this point... to somehow suggest that she should be my running mate."

When asked to respond to McCain supporters who have said Obama is not ready to be commander in chief, the senator from Illinois said he thinks what people are looking for is "good judgment."

"I think I've consistently displayed the kind of judgment that the American people are looking for in the next president," he said.

________________

Faith no more. I vote no confidence on Barack Obama. He pissed me very, very bad with his language of strong support for Israel in order to be pliant towards Jewish-Americans and Zionists disregarding Founding Fathers' advice against entangling alliance with foreign powers.

Ron Paul and Mike Gravel are the last hope for cutting off ties with Israel.

I sent Barack Obama an obscenity-laden e-mail, which is posted in the individual blog entry [update: deleted; blog entry re-spawned with more vitriol] on his campaign web site. I expect the post removed for "objectionable content" and banned.

"Change we can believe in" is a lie, like Hillary's "Ready for Change!" slogan. Self-serving American politics as usual.

UPDATE

A provocative DailyKos post with an in-depth commentary. I will be "banhammered" there. Brainwashed sheeple.

Update II

Obama's speech in celebration of 60th anniversary of IsraHELL. Try not to reach for a puke bucket.

__________

"This week marks the 60th anniversary of the fulfillment of a dream -- the independence of the State of Israel. Throughout many centuries, Jews held fast to the hope of returning as free people to the land of their ancestors. Blessed with visionary leaders like Theodore Herzl and David Ben-Gurion, in the 20th century they began to take the practical steps necessary to build a modern state. Against all odds, and overcoming obstacles from international indifference, to hostile opposition in the region, to the murderous crimes of the Nazis, the leaders of the Zionist movement declared the establishment of the State of Israel in May 1948. In their moment of triumph, they were immediately plunged into a war for their new nation's very survival. Because of the courage and commitment of its people, Israel did survive. While threats to its existence have endured, Israelis have built their nation into a strong, vibrant democracy, with a prosperous economy, a rich cultural life, and a deep friendship with the United States that benefits both our peoples in so many ways. Even in hard times, Israelis have so much to be proud of. As the Jewish State continues to grow and prosper, the United States will always stand with Israel to ensure it can defend itself against threat of terrorism and violence, from as close as Gaza and as far as Tehran. We must never waver in our unshakeable commitment help Israel achieve its goal of true security through lasting peace with its neighbors.

On this happy occasion, I send congratulations and warm wishes to President Peres, Prime Minister Olmert, and the Israeli people, and I join with Jews and friends of Israel everywhere in celebrating Israel's 60th Independence Day."

Displaying the kind of judgement the American people are looking for? What kind of crap is that? We need politicians that look after American interests alone. American interests do not coincide with slaughtering millions of innocent people everywhere for Israel, or oil company profits.

Subject: I'm not going to waste my time on your poll, b/c

it's entirely b.s.  You're not an anti-semite for calling Israel out for bad policies, but you are one for labeling a people as "racist, apartheid, ethnocentric" without having ever met them.  My family in Israel are none of those things.  Most of the people in that country I know are none of those things.  Arabs live all over the country, own businesses and have seats in the Knesset.  Israel accepted its racial minority quicker than the U.S.

And that you would deem it treasonous for a president to have an alliance with a democracy as we have with all other deomcracies around the world is pathetic.

My rebuttal:

Subject: Look what Israel did to Gaza/WB & Lebanon

Israeli politics is concentrated in Zionism that call for genocide, expansionism by land theft and subverting foreign nations.

I am opposed to Israel's existence because it is a threat to world peace, especially in the Middle East region. It may celebrate 60th birthday, but there will be an eulogy, which I am working on in a book proposal that tell the true history of how State of Israel came about -- the artificial nation founded on terrorism (Deir Yassin massacre, King Hotel David bombing, etc).

I consider your commentary narrow-minded, because you have not seen the scope of it. The concept for State of Israel in Zionist foundation is the invention of non-Semite Ashkenazi Khazars (who love to abuse "anti-Semite" phrase), not the original Israelites who are of true Semitic blood.

If the ethnocratic apartheid regime of Israel didn't exist, there would not be Arab hostility and proxy wars in Middle East before and after 9/11.

Subject: Holocaust Museum in D.C.

Before condemning US long term support for Israel, I recommend you visit the Holocaust Museum in Washington DC. Also remember that Jewish people have been denigrated for many years in the US and in some cases still are.

US support for Israel can come in many forms including support for Palestinians and changing the way Israel supports West Bank settlements; deal with Gaza; . . .

These are difficult issues that are not explored by the MSM. Only rocket attacks / responses get coverage.

Rebuttal:

Subject: LOL...

Exactly what Theodor Herzl said - anti-semites are best friends in furthering the creation of a "Jewish homeland" as the firebrand of Zionist movement.

Anti-Semitism prejudice + Holocaust = Foundation of Israeli state by eradicating indigenous Palestinians and destroying the villages

The rebuttals posted above are removed in comment section on DKos diary.

No surprise. DKos is packed with hypocritical jackals who crow free speech until Israel's problems is discussed that cause them to fume and steam as though their spouses are insulted.

I've been voted "you're nuts" in a landslide. Some more hilariously idiotic comments defending Israel. DKos is uberlame.

[response to comment anti-Zionism do not equal anti-Semitism]

Re: If you don't believe Israel has a right to exist (what Zionism is), anti-Semitism is the case 99.999%

Re: In today's world, people couch their anti-Semitism by just claiming their "anti-Zionist."  It's one and the same.

Subject: You're the traitor.

You want us to reject Israel and favor Palestinian terrorists, who celebrate every Israel and American death with unbridled glee.

So go fuck yourself.

Subject: Hmmm...only conclusion I can come

up with is you're STUPID!!

Subject: It's definitely an antisemitic blogroll

Just take a look at the Holocaust denial section of the first one. [WUFYS on nepos libertas' DKos page]

Subject: Use better tinfoil

Because the waves you are channeling into that noggin of yours are disrupting any chance at sanity that you could hope for.

Subject: Anti-Semite!

Israel is critically important to the US.  In addition, the country is a moral democracy and will always deserve the strong support of the US.

For a proper perspective, you should visit the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC and see why morality demands we support Israel as a Jewish state.

And don't worry about expenses.  Admission is free.

[reply] Roflcopter. Idiotic rationale. n/t

DK sheep re-tagged the diary as simply "troll diary" even though it contains no inflammatory opinion and obscenities, unless criticizing Israel as "racist, apartheid, ethnocentric and theocratic" is automatically flamebait. Which worked to my advantage, because it force the jackals to chant "Hear no evil. See no evil. Speak no evil" mantra.

Nepos Libertas | Sat, 2008-05-10 21:19

Stop letting those clowns define the language in the debate.  Refuse to use the term anti-semitic in reference to non-semitic askanazics and sabbateans.

Claymoremind | Sat, 2008-05-10 21:24

If Israel is a democracy, like so many people bray, then where is the copy of the basics of democracy, a constitution?

Don't think Israel has a constitution, as that would interfere with its ethnic cleansing campaign against indigenous Palestinians.

As for Obama's assertion that we made a promise to Israel 60 years ago, i would like to know what that promise was?

And who made it.

The Internet is packed with millions of ignorant morons. Khazars may have won the court of "Internets" opinion against me, but I, like most anti-Zionist WUFYS contributors,  will be vindicated.

To quote Schopenhauer, "All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident."

Just remember that those who shout the loudest are not necessarily in the majority. And boy do these Ziotards scream and shout.
