[Saturday, May 10th]

At 7:00 A.M. I drove to Utah Valley State College to park in the lot close to McKay Events Center where the convention is held with booths and audience.

I walked up the stair and saw a fellow RP guy who is a MeetUp organizer along with a second organizer. However, they aren't there handing out flyers promoting Ron Paul. The main organizer is handing out flyers promoting him as a candidate for national delegate. The other organizer is delivering the convention sheet that I can't recollect.

The main organizer told me to follow him to the booth where Ron Paul flyers and slim jim packs are. I picked up flyers and slim jim packs to try handing out to passerbys entering the convention from the stair at the platform.

There are a number of "competitors" trying to pass promotional papers beside me. Many were not interested in "me" because they don't care, are in hurry or just plain disdainful towards Paul (quite a few commented with snide vitriol against Dr Paul when they saw me hold a slim jim with flyer in visible distance while I wore the white T-shirt with the portrait photo of Dr Paul and caption on each vertical side "RON PAUL" and "PRESIDENT").

Another RP supporter came along with a large "Hope for America" yard sign and I handed him some flyer and slim jim to pass to goers without pushing in their faces (which of course would be rude and would be a negative impression). After a little while trying to pass flyer and sj into the hands of the interested goers, the guy had an idea where to deliver the promo to the frequent number of arrivals.

We went to the other side where there's more people walking to enter the building. We held ground there - each of us on the side of the sidewalk - for an hour and a half despite the cold morning temperature. Both of us managed to deliver RP promo into the hands of the arrivals, young and old alike. We didn't press into the hands of the delegates that have their "blue" badges visible on chest/abdomen - they ignored us. However, some credentialed convention arrivals accepted.

Of course, there are competitors with paper promos beside us and again some people saw us and made snide comments about Dr Paul. When they say nasty things about Dr Paul -- calling him "crazy" (kook) or something like that -- I automatically assume they are Neocons and support McCain. I ignored their moronic attitudes (mostly older men and women who look traditional in conservative dress).

The cold morning temperature proved chilling on my hands holding the sj & flyer combo after a while standing there on the side of the path, so I told the supporter that I had to go and I gave him the name of the booth where he can locate additional RP promo materials for delivery. We bid farewell.

As I walked towards my parked vehicle, I passed by a few people who saw my Ron Paul T-shirt and had "mixed" impression as far as I could tell. Even when I went to retrieve more RP promo to replenish the "supply" on the sidewalk handout promo, 9-year-old "political support volunteer" children -- boys and girls -- saw my T-shirt as I go through the hallway and they looked 'confounded', if you can imagine their facial expressions. I picked up the vehicle and drove slowly along the path of a full lot where I saw a few vehicles with Ron Paul bumper stickers.

I did my duty by helping put up "RON PAUL, "Ron Paul ReLOVEution" and "Ron Paul for President 2008" spraypainted banners on the linked chain fences and over the guard bars overseeing the highways with two participants (including the main organizer) the night before.

The effort was worth it and it was fun. Only a few of us -- just two is my guess -- showed up to promote Ron Paul while other RP Meetup organizers were busy handing out self-promotional papers.
