I wish I had the time to translate... but I thought that I'd post the interviews before they 'disappear' and maybe someone can help with translations? What is most interesting is that there is a lot of info on the net about this issue... but 99.9% remains in French. Why is it that the US makes a huge fuss when a blogger somewhere in the Middle East is arrested..., but doesn't make a peep when an important reporter and figure like Richard Labeviere is sacked and threatened to death for years by the Zionist lobby and mafia? Is the Zionist mafia in such control of US media that it dictates exactly what Americans are to read and what they are not to read?  My friends, Americans can give the Zionist lobby a really hard time by simply learning foreign languages.

Here is a very interesting press conference by Labeviere.. and it is interesting that he chose to give it in Lebanon where he explains that there is more freedom of press than in France.

Last 12 August  Radio France Internationale summarily dismissed the famous French writer and  journalist Richard Labévière. This fact makes quite evident the new management methods that are being implemented under the presidency of Nicolas Sarkozy, as well as the neoconservative victory of the Atlanticist leading team of the French foreign broadcasting network (RFI, TV and France24) headed by Christine Ockrent, wife of the fugitive Bernard Kouchner, a one time “Socialist” who changed sides, moving to the right to be able to become the French Republic’s Foreign Minister.

The reasons given for his summary dismissal are surreal:  Richard Labévière is accused of not having informed  the management of this public body that  he had interviewed  the Syrian president Bachar al-Assad  in Damascus. The interview was re-transmitted on the 9th of July by the television channel TV5 and  the following day by Radio France Internationale, just before the official arrival of al-Assad to Paris as a guest of president Sarkozy.

Richard Labévière is not just another Siné [1]. He was the editor in chief of RFI until they dismissed  him for supporting Alain Ménargues [2], who was also forced to resign accused of  “ anti-Semitism “ under pressure from Nissim Zvili, the Israeli ambassador in France. Labévière took charge then of the morning broadcast of “ Propose? ”, from which he was also sacked, yet again, after pressure from the Israeli ambassador. He was only left with a 40 minute programme “ Géopolitique, le débat ”, broadcast  every Saturday. They have now taken that from him too.

Next Tuesday Bernard Kouchner has to meet Bachar al-Assad in Damascus. I wonder how he will explain to him the dismissal of Labévière. Will he blame it on the last book published by the journalist in collaboration with the philosopher Bruno Jeanmart, ”Bernard-Henri Lévy ou la règle du Je” ["Bernard-Henri Lévy or the Rule of I"] [3], an attack  against this predatory mass media outlet known in France as BHL, his initials. Or will he tell  his Syrian host that he could no longer stand Labévière saying that the capital of Israel is Tel Aviv and not Jerusalem?

And how will Kouchner explain such an incredible dismissal to Anne Gazeau-Secret, his ambassador in the Netherlands, who is also the wife of Richard Labévière?

And when will the French media decide it is time to publish the news? At the time of writing these lines, four days after Labévière’s  dismissal, not even one news service in France had made any reference to this matter. The only news outlets to bring the Labévière affair out into the open are the Arab speaking ones: Assafir and Al Manar in Beirut, Al Quds Al Arabi in London and a website Aleppo in Syria. Funny, isn’t it? Or perhaps it is not really so strange?

In conclusion, the only thing left for me to do, is to advise all the readers who want to be informed in real-time about the facts and the misdemeanors of Sarkozyan France, is that they ought to start learning Arabic. To those who have already done so, I would like to suggest that they read an excellent article by Mohamed Balut, Paris correspondent of the  Assafir daily newspaper in Beirut. However, for those of you who are not yet familiar with the language, here is a short summary:

It is possible that the fact that he spoke with president Bachir al-Assad has cost the French journalist his position with RFI and TV5; the official French mass media do not seem to be  aware that France and Syria have a much warmer relationship now  or perhaps it is possible that they are trying to ignore it. Richard Labévière has written dozens of articles favorable to the Palestinian cause and two books last year, one of them with Pierre Péan, “Bethléhem in Palestine” [Bethlehem in Palestine] [4]. After the publication of this book, Labévière found a letter on his desk in his office that read: ” We are going to skin you ”. His dismissal does pose the following question: is it possible to criticize Israel in the French media? We need to remember too that Labévière confronted in his book ”La règle du je” the Jewish philosopher BHL, who in his magazine criminalizes anyone who dares criticize Israel. Alain Ménargues has already paid a very high price; Pascal Boniface, the French investigative journalist was the victim of a violent media campaign when he published his book with the unequivocal title, ”Est-il permis of critiquer Israël?” ["Is it allowed to criticize Israel?"]. Is it a coincidence that this campaign against Labévière has been orchestrated by the same team - made up of Pierre Ganz, the director of the French programmes at RFI, Frank Weil-Rabaud and Nicolas Vespucci - who acted openly against Ménargues? So, who has supported Richard Labévière? Only the CFDT Trade Union [5] ”

[1] The satirical and anarchist cartoonist Siné, who was employed in Charlie Hebdo, and who was accused of “ anti-Semitism “ and dismissed by Philippe Val, the neocon director of the weekly, after writing that Jean Sarkozy, Nicolas’ son, was going to convert to Judaism before marrying the heiress of the Darty stores.

[2] The author of two books that the Israeli authorities and their apologists in France have not forgiven him for : Les Secrets de la guerre du Liban : Du coup d’état de Béchir Gémayel aux massacres des camps palestiniens and Le Mur de Sharon [Sharon’s Wall] .

[3] The play of words works much better in French than in English when the word jeu [game] is replaced with the word je [I], both with a very similar pronunciation. It is a poisonous allusion to the title of the magazine run by Bernard-Henri Lévy [The rules of the game] which in itself is, without a doubt, a reference to the title of one of film maker Jean Renoir’s masterpieces. Bernard-Henri Lévy is an arrogant, megalomaniac, postmodern French pseudo-philosopher totally identified with right wing politics, although he pretends in his latest book to be a leftie.

Paris, le 23 août (Nouvelle Solidarité)—Vous rappelez-vous de ces éditos, particulièrement libres, que l’on entendait sur RFI, à 6H45 du matin ? Ces éditos où l’on dénonçait tout de go, sans nuances, comme il faut, la politique de guerre des néo-conservateurs américains et des ultra israëliens au Proche Orient ? Ces éditos qui de bon matin nous mettaient de bonne humeur : « Tiens, tu ne va pas me croire, tu sais ce que j’ai entendu sur RFI ? » On avait l’impression d’entendre, pour une fois, un brin de vérité dans les médias. Ces éditos, ils remontent à loin, mais on s’en rappelle encore. C’était vers 2004 ou 2005 !

L’éditorialiste, c’était Richard Labevière, rédacteur en chef de Radio France Internationale, qui vient d’être mis au pas par Alain de Pouzilhac et Christine Okrent Kouchner, les responsables de la nouvelle holding Audiovisuel extérieur de la France (AEF) qui rassemble désormais RFI, TV 5 Monde et France 24. Petit rappel au moment où la guerre couve encore entre la Géorgie et la Russie : Christine Okrent est l’une des fondatrices du European Council on Foreign Relations, un think-tank crée à l’initiative du même George Soros qui contrôle la Géorgie et a lancé Saakachvili contre la Russie en Ossetie du Sud.

Censée être la voix de la France à l’étranger, AEF n’est pas, de toute évidence, la voix de la France libre. C’est la raison pour laquelle nous invitons tous nos lecteurs, à consulter la vidéo (ou le texte complet de son intervention) où Richard Labevière dénonce ceux qui ont obtenu son départ de la Radio et leurs motivations, et à signer la pétition en sa faveur. La bataille n’est pas finie, un préavis de grève a été lancé par les syndicats de RFI pour la rentrée, et un référé prudhommal aura lieu le 22 septembre prochain.

Richard Labevière dénonce l’Orwellisation de la presse française

Q : Richard Labevière, vous avez été licencié de radio France internationale, quelles sont les raisons officielles invoquées par la direction de cette radio pour justifier ce licenciement ?

RL : Effectivement, j’ai été licencié par la direction de RFI le 12 aout 2008 pour avoir réalisé une interview du président syrien Bachar el Assad à Damas le 8 juillet dernier, pour RFI et TV 5 monde, filiales de l’Audiovisuel extérieur de la France (AEF), faisant partie de la même entité. Dans n’importe quelle entreprise ou media cette interview aurait été saluée comme une réussite alors que là paradoxalement de manière assez incompréhensible du reste elle se transforme en sanction pour faute grave sur un dossier totalement vide qui a vu se succéder de fautes de procédures, de violations du droit du travail et de la convention collective pour essayer de faussement justifier ce licenciement

Q : Quelles sont, selon vous, les vrais raisons, les raisons réelles et profondes de votre licenciement ?

RL : Face à un dossier vide, face à cette machination aussi ubuesque sinon kafkaïenne, on ne peut que se poser des questions.

On peut faire trois remarques : la première est que cette péripétie s’inscrit dans une suite de harcèlement professionnel que la direction de RFI exerce a mon encontre depuis environs 4 ans. Je rappelle que j’ai été relevé de l’éditorial international en 2005 à la demande de l’ambassadeur d’Israël en France, Nissim Zvili, qui a demandé ma tête à la direction de RFI qui le lui a accordé sans que personne ne proteste et surtout pas les tutelles, à savoir, le Ministère français des affaires étrangères.

Ensuite, j’ai été l’objet de plusieurs menaces verbales et physiques puisque j’ai du déposer une plainte pour harcèlement professionnel et menaces de mort sur mon lieu de travail après avoir reçu un certain nombre de menaces émanant vraisemblablement du Betar avec des complicités internes à RFI. Tout cela s’inscrit dans un climat qui sert a intimider les journalistes qui sortent du discours officiel pro israélien que RFI cherche à imposer sur tout ce qui concerne dans les journaux et magazines le traitement concernant l’écrit du proche et moyen orient.

La deuxième remarque qu’on peut faire est que cette mise au pas éditoriale et rédactionnelle intervient au moment où Mme Ockrent Kouchner et M Alain Pouzhillac prennent la direction de l’audiovisuel extérieur de la France c’est-à-dire de RFI, de Tele V Monde et de France 24, voulant reprendre en main aussi un contenu éditorial dans la bonne doxa américano israélienne dès qu’il est question du Proche Orient.

Enfin, la troisième raison s’inscrit de manière plus large dans une mise au pas non seulement de médias publics et mais de l’ensemble la presse française pour imposer effectivement une lecture néo conservatrice, américano-israélienne sur ces mêmes crises proche orientales. Aujourd’hui le fait d’avoir une lecture différente qu’on peut qualifier de pro palestinienne sinon de pro arabe est considérée comme une espèce de déviation sinon un crime justifiant toutes les mises à mort professionnelles, les plus virtuelles comme les plus opérationnelles. Aujourd’hui le fait d’avoir une lecture qui ne corresponde pas à la doxa pro américaine et pro israélienne de ces conflits est considérée comme un délit d’opinion et un crime professionnel.

Q : Nous pouvons donc considérer qu’un clan, un lobby pro américain et pro israélien, cherche à imposer un discours unique dans l’espace médiatique en France et exerce un véritable terrorisme intellectuel contre tout point de vue critique de la politique américaine et israélienne.

RL : Ce qui est en jeu certainement dans cette affaire qui n’est pas une affaire strictement personnelle mais, au contraire, symptomatique et emblématique de ce que j’appelle une Orwellisation de la presse française, presse publique et privée, qui veut imposer une pensée unique sur la lecture des relations et de crises internationales et tout particulièrement sur les crises du Proche et du Moyen Orient allant dans le sens de cette pensée unique unidimensionnelle farouchement et radicalement pro-américaine et pro israélienne ne laissant plus aucune place à toute autre interprétation ou lecture. J’en veux pour preuve que le pluralisme des invités amenés à s’exprimer sur cette question sur les antennes RFI s’est considérablement réduit, qu’une série de consultants (…) ont été proprement virés aussi de l’antenne comme votre serviteur. Je crois que s’installe non seulement à RFI mais dans l’audiovisuel extérieur un diktat, une pensée unique, une Orwellisation, je répète le terme, du travail éditorial et journalistique aui amène tous les journalistes qui sortent des clous a être criminalisés et à être considérés comme des déviants et des dangereux terroristes et dialectiquement je crois que là on assiste à une imposition d’un terrorisme intellectuel tous azimuts puisque c’est au pluralisme même de ce qui faisait honneur de la presse française qu’on s’attaque désormais.
