israel "worse than Iran" (???) No Way!

Yes, it's common knowledge. But, as usual israelis vehemently deny it . . .

Despite widespread condemnation of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s call for Israel to be wiped for the map and continuing concern over his nuclear plans, 54 per cent said they believed Iran had a “mostly negative influence on the world” compared to 56 per cent for the Jewish State.

Imagine that - their propaganda didn't work.

Their respective “positive” ratings in the poll of 28,000 people in 27 countries were 18 per cent and 17 percent - which also put both countries below North Korea.

But following Tuesday’s publication of the results of the poll for the BBC World Service, supporters of Israel were quick to highlight her desire for peace and innovation in technology and other fields.

“These results show a lack of knowledge of the realities on the ground, which can be blamed in part on distorted media coverage,”
said Zionist Federation Executive Director Alan Aziz. “While Olmert prepares to meet the Palestinian president next week and Israel seeks peace, his Iranian counterpart has talked of wiping the Jewish State off the map – in what way does that make Israel more of a negative influence.”

Expressing astonishment at the poll results, Conservative Friends of Israel Political Director Robert Halfon told TJ: “I’d like to know how it was compiled. I’m particularly surprised given that Israel is a force for good in the world, a beacon of democracy, a bastion of economic and technological achievement and on the frontline against terrorism.”

I know it's hard, but try not to bust a vessel laughing.

Outgoing Labour Friends of Israel director Dan Fox describing opinion polls as “extremely blunt tools which come up with extremely blunt results”, but he said: “It’s distressing that Israel in basic terms is still thought of so negatively. These negative may be wide but they’re not deep and can be easily rebutted through education and engagement.” And he suggested the position of Israel in comparison to Iran “probably reflects the fact that people know more about Israel because Israel is a more open society”.

Indeed - which is why they continue to neither confirm nor deny that they have over 200 nuclear warheads.

[A] spokesman for the Israeli Embassy in London said: “It could be assumed that if Israel was the same size as Canada, which was ranked in the poll as the world's most positive country, and if all of Israel's neighbours were similar to Canada's neighbours, then we would have taken the top spot in the poll."

In other words, in a fantasy world israel would be the most loved country in the world. But, alas, in reality it's the most despised.

According to Surrey Heath MP Michael Gove, what is particularly remarkable is that Israel’s “virtues flourish and its democracy remains robust” despite an international campaign against its people.

“The BBC would be better employed reporting on Iran’s programme of domestic repression, nuclear escalation and Holocaust denial rather than giving aid and comfort to Israel’s critics,” he insisted.

Always telling people what to say and think.

A spokesperson for BICOM said the poll "reinforces our need to remind people of Israel's historical desire to find peace with its neighbours and its willingness to give up land for peace. This is the main message that will ultimately help shift public opinion towards Israel".

Repeat a lie often enough . . .

Iran isn't perpetrating a genocide. Iran isn't playing with fire by meddling in the internal politics of the USA. Iran had nothing to do with 911. Israel has a lot to learn, and they are going to learn it the hard way.
