False Flags Over Iran

That the warmongers are so desperate to frame Iran for any and every attack taking place in the world is worrying, to be sure, but at the end of the day, perhaps there is something hopeful we can take away from this. The fact that the Patrick Clawsons and Gary Harts and Dick Cheneys of the world are dreaming up their provocations and incidents to justify an invasion of Iran means that, at the very least, some measure of justification is still needed to embroil the NATO powers in another war.

Once again we find that it is the people who hold the power, and it is the people who must be convinced about the need for this war. Here in 2012, now 9 years after the debacle in Iraq and 1 year after the debacle in Libya, are going to need more convincing than ever that it is necessary to deploy the war machine yet again for another round of military adventurism. And now that the mainstream media has expended whatever was left of their credibility pimping the "weapons of mass destruction" propaganda, the so-called political elite realize that nothing less than a spectacular provocation will do to rouse the public's ire.

Once again we find that it is the people who hold the power, and it is the people who must be convinced about the need for this war. Here in 2012, now 9 years after the debacle in Iraq and 1 year after the debacle in Libya, the people are going to need more convincing than ever that it is necessary to deploy the war machine yet again for another round of military adventurism. And now that the mainstream media has expended whatever was left of their credibility pimping the "weapons of mass destruction" propaganda, the so-called political elite realize that nothing less than a spectacular provocation will do to rouse the public's ire.

I have the opposite opinion. This may sound negative, cynical, and defeatist, but I am only trying to spare people the pain of disappointment. I say that politicians no longer need a false flag, or other pretext.  They no longer need legitimacy, or permission from the masses. They do whatever they want, whenever they want.

Meanwhile the masses are more obedient than ever. As soon as the corporate media calls someone a “dictator,” the public demands that the “dictator” be destroyed for “humanitarian” reasons. Even “anti-war” twits do this. Even idiot “progressives” do this, referring to imperialist murder and theft as “intervention.” Even the “anti-racism” morons show their racism when they insist (without a shred of proof) that “Salafists” did the Benghazi attack.

No matter how may lies are exposed, the masses always believe the next lie. Indeed, the more the masses are lied to, they more desperately they believe each new lie.

If the NATO powers decide to bomb Iran, they will simply do it, as they did Libya. They need not bother with a false flag or other contrivance. If the NATO powers decide to destroy Iran via internal terrorism, they will simply do it, as they did Syria.

And the masses will cheer louder than ever. Even people who now denounce war with Iran will cheer. They will do an about face, as they always do when the attack gets under way. If we deny this reality, then we live in a dreamworld. The masses are stupid because they choose to be. This is the way the world is. Since we can’t change it, we should avoid becoming too upset by it. (But I still get upset anyway.)
